Please please please keep making these videos, your passion for what you’re teaching is inspiring, and once you get found by your crowd more people will see it. Don’t let low view counts being you down. It’s clear that you enjoy making these videos, so please don’t stop. Good luck Nele, I can’t wait to see how you grow!

Thank you so very much! Yes, I have been going for over 2 years now and the growth is really small. But I only want to get monetized so I can get an editor. So I can make more and even better video's, and maybe even do bigger projects to help cats and people who help cats.

Can confirm - if cat changes how they react to their cat companion (eg being faster to get annoyed), if they change the way they eat (make a bigger mess, food falls from mouth, they throw in the air and catch, they start eating somewhat less, they push cookies out with a tongue) - even if vet says it looks like just a single place of gingiva to be a bit red, ask for rtg and checkup. We caught several broken teeth, some FORL (kinda like caries) hidden below gumline, and for one is concluded that he might be sensitive even to smallest redness / inflammation. Yes it's costly, but keep in mind - cat will eat even in pain because they don't understand the concept of going to the vet. So you have to watch for subtle signs like this. Yes cat in pain has less tolerance for companion who wants to play more, you included. Our current count for 2 cats and year and a half is three just cleanings that immediately removed redness / inflammation and cat calmed down and started to eat peacefully without making a mess, three times teeth extraction. One mistake was made - not doing rtg immediately but relying on eyes - they saw broken tooth and concluded it's the single culprit. Was better for a while but we went again, did rtg and found several FORL cases. It might be they were there earlier. So one now has to go twice for cleaning and rtg, another once and if I notice weird changes. Whole goal is to recognise asap and treat so they're not in pain for weeks/months. No one of us would be happy with so much pain, neither do they. :) Also one test could be giving painkillers by vet and if there's change for the better - you know they're in pain so you can investigate further, eg when redness is just too small and you don't want to do costly anesthesia and rtg until you have stronger evidence.

They hide pain so very well indeed! Are your cats any kind of breed? Maine Coons, for example, are known to have big reactions to tooth plaque (as in allergic to it) more easily than other breeds/non breeds. Also, careful with painkillersif the cat is older and has not had its blood checked first! It might be hiding kidney failure and then painkillers can be dangerous.

@@CatVetNele i meant everything as proposal to vet, this test with painkillers :) since rtg can be expensive. But yes, I assumed under vet supervision and lead. It's just sometimes vets might be time constrained and without inspiration for alternative testing the hypothesis. Mine didn't think of it at first either but after several visits, when we were debugging some other situation. Both my cats are ordinary mixed ones however for the one that now has to have cleaning every 6 months in the shelter they said it might be main coon mix, because of ears and hair around them. He is smaller than the other one, regular domestic cat mix. But he likes to play with water so it might be something to it 😂 Allergy sounds pretty bad :/ is there anything else we can do beside watching for pain signals and go for cleaning? Even more frequent cleaning maybe?

Hey, it's been a while. I didn't see this answer yet! Yes, sometimes we start with a test giving pain killers because the owner lets us know that they don't have much budget. We not only have to think about the best option for the animal (what we studied for) but also the best (and possible) option for the owner (not always money related). Ah! So there's some Main Coon genetics in your cat, whatta ya know! Besides watching for pain signs, training your cat to let you brush its teeth is the very best option of all. If you need help with that, watch this step-by-step tutorial I made (this one was originally in Flemish, my native language and then I later dubbed it so more people could benefit from it): kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWe1i4mLramjl8k
