If only the LDS boat wasn’t built on lies, deceit, ungodly history and changing doctrine. The boat is meant to instill fear and dependency on itself rather than truth and fearless trust in Jesus Christ.

This is not a good message. It is abusive. Why should we stay in the boat when it is sinking. It is not always good to stay in the boat. It’s kind of ironic because in these video snap shots Jesus was actually telling his apostles to get out of the boat, not stay in it.

So we get a universe, made of planets incidentally, but not a planet as states the church’s official online response to the question “Do Mormons get their own planet?” But what Elder Holland is teaching is what i was told my entire life, that is the whole Plan of Salvation! The purpose of our lives here on earth is to continue the pattern.

It's not the worst case to leave the boat if Christ is standing out on the water and beckoning us toward him. This is many people's experience as they find the waters very troubling around the boat or church in which they sit. They see Christ not sitting in the boat with him, but rather standing out on the waves beckoning them out of the ship to walk on the water and be remitted of sins. Permission never came while sitting in the boat, because it requires a great leap of faith toward Christ. If we are to be anointed by the Holy Spirit, then we will walk upon the water just as oil walks upon the water.

Thank you Elder Holland for speaking the empathetic truth in such a tender way. Sometimes it’s difficult to stay in the boat when you get pushed into uncomfortable situations but it is also important to know that the Lord is also overseeing the process. I heard a quote once about teachers being silent when the students are taking their tests. It doesn’t mean that they love their students less but they are quietly cheering them on and praying for their success! I believe that much like a parent who sees their child after the test the Lord would probably show their love and encouragement after the trial of their faith. It’s still not easy but personally when I’m aware that I am in that kinda of growth situation it gives me hope and forgiveness for myself because it gives me a more eternal perspective

Something we need to remember is that Christ meets where we are. He will not take the trial in most cases, but He will be with as we pass through it. He will give us strength when we feel we have no more strength, and often times that strength will seem like it came from nowhere. That’s been my experience.
