Actually the repair is most likely stronger than the original casting, I wasn't sure at first but when I saw the Black junk in the inside weld I figured it had to be cast instead of a Billet piece. Nice job & good video.

Do you have to worry about the tolerance getting tighter with lapping in ? I’m asking because I’m having my cases repaired on my Yz450f and I might have to lap my cases. I don’t want anything to bind
@trickengg
@trickengg 3 жыл бұрын
@@HIinfidel technically you need to have that in mind. When I do these repairs I weld the case above the gasket surface and then machine it really close back to the gasket surface. And then I’m just blending it in. You would have to be very aggressive and do a lot of work just to remove .002-.005 thousandths lapping cases like this. If you remove a lot it could at some point put things in a bind. But I’m simply not going to that extent.

Tip from 2021: If you happen to be one of the many out there with a chowdered swingarm off a Honda CR250, you can use a 37mm stainless steel shielded bearing if you don't have access to a lathe or an equivalent sized steel plug. Also, use stainless steel if you can over carbon steels for backing aluminum.

It could have not been applied or prepped correctly. This is also the E series not H. The E series is near double the durability. Nothing holds up perfectly. Pistols will wear on the corners of where it gets rubbed going into a holster over time. When these coatings are applied correctly they hold up well compared to any coating put through the same exposure of elements. If you had an issue you feel is abnormal contact the manufacture and let them know.

How did this E-Series hold up over time on the ignition cover? Considerably more durability than the H-Series? I’m thinking of using it on my clutch/ignition covers as well
@trickengg
@trickengg 3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure this was a customers cover. Personally I wouldn’t do any of the covers a boot touches. Everything wears, OEM coatings, Cerakote, anodizing. The only thing that holds up is Hinson covers. E-Series is much better than H-Series. And the wear will depend on the aggressiveness of the rider, riding style, dirt you ride in primarily etc. there is a lot of variables. I would roach an OEM cover on the first ride in the past 20 years of new bikes. But some vet riders or beginners may not wear them as much.
