I'm pretty lucky to have a mental limit for gaming. If I game too much without doing my responsibility, I lose my motivation to play games. I don't know how I developed this but it prevents gaming from becoming an addiction.
@Dainesz4 күн бұрын
The older I get the more I feel this same way. Sometimes I'd rather be doing things in real life then on a game and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm actually thinking of making my next video about this topic. Cause at a certain time over the last 2 years I would take 2-3 month long breaks from gaming all together and it greatly improved my life, yet I still love them and come back when I have the free time and don't have as many responsibilities to take care of.

I’m in that same boat right now. I’ll play MMOs with my family and some friends but when they aren’t playing and I have free time then I play solo players games and it’s actually reignited my love for gaming. It so slept on now a days 😂

Glad to see you checking out the story and adventure side of games! It's my favorite aspect of them... if you enjoy that old-school vibe of lore and gameplay I'd encourage you to check out Classic WoW or even Lord of the Rings Online sometime too! :D
@Dainesz11 күн бұрын
I've wanted to try Lord of the Rings Online before so I might check that out! Classic WoW to me at this time doesn't seem to appealing but HC classic has some appeal that I might try. Still giving it some thought at the moment.

Yeah, pretty much. Had a circle of friends that were playing a lot of League and occasionally World of Warcraft M+ runs. I sucked at League and dreaded M+ because suddenly, this game that I really loved playing actively felt stressful due to the context of multiple timed dungeons each weekend. It seriously felt like a job at some point to know that my saturdays will be spent under the immense pressure of finishing these M+ keys. Even if I shared those moments with my friends, which were funny at times, the pressure of the dungeons being timed and the whole weekly dynamic of it, not to mention the fact that we weren't a fully pre-made group most of the time, was sullying the enjoyment for me. I don't remember what it was that made me quit those types of games specifically but at some point I started playing single player games more often. I think it might have started with me picking up Metal Gear Rising in 2022. Either way, I kinda realized that life was just too short for games that were overly competitive like that. Unfortunately, those friends of mine were always the competitive type of player and so, I haven't really played anything with them for several years at this point, and don't really hang around with them anymore (for different reasons).
@Dainesz11 күн бұрын
I get what you mean. I remember that feeling when I was playing shadowlands with torghast, which was a legit chore we had to always do. Hopefully I dont get burnt out with M+. But I for sure have started my exploration of solo player games again and its starting to respark that fun and enjoyment I once had. If you have any game suggestions then let me know! I am also sorry to hear about your friends. Just know you are not the only one as I have had people like that in my life as well.

The only reason why you didn’t meet the toxicity of M+ is because you were playing in group of friends. As soon as you get to playing with randoms WoW becomes as toxic is not worse as any other competitive game. Ratings, ilvl, pugs and all this race is extremely unwelcoming and salty
@Dainesz11 күн бұрын
Playing with friends or family makes any game better for sure and in this case less toxic. I've been playing WoW since end of Classic, but in my own experience I haven't experienced nearly as much toxicity as I do in other games such as League of Legends or COD. However, I played competitive games for majority of my life so I was exposed to it more then I was in WoW which could be a major factor. But I agree, pugs, ilvl, and rating can make the overall player base more toxic. Especially when you need to meet damage checks before enrage timers.
@SeanMoore12 күн бұрын
A little bit of competition is a good thing but the toxic bs that passes for "competition" these days is another story.
@Dainesz11 күн бұрын
I completely agree! In fact I would say healthy competition is a lot of fun and you can joke around with everyone and have a good time. But "todays" version of competition is absolutely another story.

Too many people forget it's a game and act like they're on a pro circuit. Ruins it for everyone involved personally I only feel upset if I didn't live up to my own standards and even then it's just another opportunity to learn.
@Dainesz11 күн бұрын
@@Krunchamunch220 Well said. Not living up to my own expectations is one thing and at that point I can just say "I have a skill issue" and work on it. The hard part is feeling even more demotivated when people point it out and bring you down because of 1 mistake you make. Thats the real problem, which in this case they would be treating it as a pro circuit and then they say "I am a high rank then you" or "I have more kills then you" which in a team game only gets so far but isn't the entire objective of the actual game you are playing majority of the time.

I quit raiding when I had a panic attack when pulling a mythic raid boss. That was around 10 years ago.
@Dainesz11 күн бұрын
Nothing wrong with that honestly. Play the game how you want to play it and have fun. One thing I continue to learn is there is no right or wrong way to play a game. Right now Im playing Elden Ring and while I could look up the best build and blow through the game I inadvertently ruin my experience because I start to ruin the challenge of character building and defeating difficult bosses that feel like a major achievement afterwords.

100% relatable, man. Played WoW when I was younger up until Cataclysm then got into competitive games and all the toxicity that comes with. One thing that always bothered me about them was that I felt like I HAD to play consistently to stay good and keep up. Gaming wasn't about relaxing and having a good time anymore, felt like having another job. I got burnt out and stopped playing games, I had actually fallen out of love with gaming. I also decided to try FFXIV eventually like you and I got that feeling similar to playing warcraft for the first time, a new world to explore and make my place in. That's how games should be to me. Now I have 4 of my irl friends playing a hardcore run on turtleWoW, 3 of them being first timers and it's insane how much fun we are having. Exploring Azeroth again with my friends, goofing around inside Orgrimmar, running dungeons with the boys, chatting with other players on boats and zeppelins is an experience you just can't get in competitive games. Anyway, loved the video man. Watched it while lying in bed and it felt very cozy. I haven't played a lick of retail WoW since I came back for a month in WoD lol, but that zone you walked through was absolutely beautiful. Maybe I should try to convince my friends to try it out with me sometime.
@Dainesz13 күн бұрын
I totally get you man. The constant urge that felt like I needed to be playing 24/7 otherwise Ill get left behind was soul draining. I'm glad you are able to show your friends what gaming should really be like through your HC characters! I have some friends that are doing the same thing but they are just playing cata together and they are loving it. The one thing I can say now regarding retail is a lot has changed and it can be 110% overwhelming. If you and your friends get into it then I would say to not look at any meta classes, builds, best gear, etc. and to just pick what looks fun and play the game however you want to play it. In the end there is no right or wrong way to play the game! Wish you the best of luck to you and your friends! Also, thanks for telling me the video was cozy, its a bit different from my past videos but I love these types of videos more as they feel more personal and impactful to me and I like helping people out!
