I bet you don’t play many video games. The Tesla makes sense if you do. Your brain isn’t used to remembering inputs based on muscle memory or more your brain has been trained to think in an analogue way. The younger generation is more used to this type of thing… I guess. That all sounds a bit patronising but it’s come from a concept point of view. I also don’t get complaining about adjusting steering wheels and mirrors… you only need to do it once. Why have a mess of buttons and knobs for that.

I'm a motoring journalist, I test at least one new car/motorbike/van per week and drive countless more. It's my job to review and remark on things that I notice. These observations are exactly that, observations. Don't let my remarks be representative of a negative review because they're not. You're almost certainly right, and if I had the car on a 6 month long-term test, I'd probably agree with you. I'm just narrating things I noticed in a few days with the car. I wish I had one as a second car, after my Model Y Performance. The compromises of the Model Y are just perfect for me - the Model 3 is a bit small. But as a second car, perfect (for me). I bought my Tesla new in August 2023, and I now have over 20,000 miles on it. I also still have my Infiniti M37, but I have not driven it for over a year since I bought the Model Y. Which means I have no use for a gas car either. I haven't even ridden my BMW K1300s motorcycle since I got the Tesla. Plenty of speed in the MYP. In fact, the MYP is faster than the old BMW K100RS I owned from 1985 to 2015. In Europe, you don't yet get FSD, and I'm hooked on that feature. It's a great driver assistant, but it's still not robotaxi-capable. But even today FSD routinely drives me everywhere, and it rarely has a problem (in Arizona). And yes, it's cautious. (Think professional chauffeur ferrying the Police Chief's daughter to the high school prom - ultra careful.)

I own a 2017 Tesla M3, 2021 MYP, and a 2024 M3P. They get better and better. Using feel in your fingers, you know where turn signal is and how to use it. Non issue. My new M3P is best car I have ever driven....pre tesla i owned 5 bmws over the years. Try FSD for a month and you will never want a car without it. It is insanely good. I have had fsd for 3 years, and the latest (12.5.6.3) is out of this world good. 10x better than i can drive. 10x safer than a human. FSD is Tesla's gigantic advantage in the auto market place. If you've not tried it, you have no idea what i mean. Share price will prove this out when FSD V13 arrives in a few weeks!

@dyemanoz I think more than anything, it's the fact that EU market is not as much of a priority. Secondly EU regulations don't allow for a lot of Tesla Features (actual smart summon, proper FSD)

I own a M3P for a year now, and those cons of controlling the mirrors and steering wheel only bothered me only once, when I picked up the car from the dealership. After setting it correctly i never had to touch it again. And then let’s be honest. If you only need a button or knob once a year, what’s the point of an ugly visible physical button?
@jonfrench7133Күн бұрын
I have had exact spec car for 3 months and honestly the lack of stalks is a non issue. On the point of adjusting the mirrors and steering it’s a one time job. These settings along with all other driver setting then get associated with your phone. Whenever you get in it recognises your phone and adjusts automatically. You can add multiple accounts so everyone has their own settings. It’s easy peasy. I do agree the the rear view mirror point though!

You're getting a lot of crap for this review. As someone for whom this car would be a daily driver, the negatives you call out are meaningful and I appreciate be made aware of them. At $100k here in the US, this car would be a tremendous stretch for me so the option of keeping one as a weekend car or garage queen, just isnt an option. Lots I love about this car but the reality of owning one as my daily driver as me thinking hard about the Cayman as a potentially better option. Not as stunning visually and not as "special" perhaps, but overall more livabale. Others may be okay with the compromises of the Lotus, and I totally respect (perhaps even envy) that choice. Nevertheless, having it all out in broad daylight is the nost important thing. Thank you for that!
