Just wanted to say thank you for this video. It was very helpful. FYI, I don't think you should have to grind the swingarm for clearance. Mine wanted to touch, but I just slid another block of wood under the rear wheel to get the swinger up a little more. That gave me the room to install the shock, bolts, etc. Nothing touches once the bike is back on the ground.

Can't wait to get one. Not a beginner and ridden for quite some time.. but I prefer a bike with nice torque and not making me kill myself on my A2 license. So this one looks fun in all ways w a new exhaust

Hey mate, long shot, but would you have the part numbers for the bolt and coller that you used to connect to the shock? Cheers

Nice Video...and good explanations...it works this way...but did you recognise that you have sprayed the lubricant also on the surface of the tire....this is dangerous. Better clean and lubricant directly at the rear sprocket.....

Dude what size is that bolt. The one you had to put thru the rotor at the end. I’ve checked everywhere for it. Even Suzukis parts dealer didn’t have it listed

That's weird, to me the F800R with the Akra pipe sounds like an inline-4 with aftermarket pipe... In other words, it doesn't sound like the deep throaty sound of a P-twin with aftermarket pipe (e.g. Yamaha MT-07), but rather like a 4-cylinder with aftermarket pipe.

Cheers for this fella, really helpful. Question for you, or anyone else! Is the swing arm the same for all the GS500’s? Looking at a 2003 arm for my 1994 bike. Thanks 🙏👍🍺🤓😊

Seems like it would be much stiffer. I wonder what the sag figures are? If you have no idea what I am talking about do a search for Dave Moss. I would think it should be about 35mm for that bike for the street front and rear. If you cant achieve that much adjusting the spring tension, then the spring is too stiff.

Cleaning your gs500 is only kerosene or diesel fuel, and oiling is only heavy motor (or transmission) oil...anything else (wd40...)may damage the chain gaskets.

11:17 Those hammer hits are to move forward the rear wheel and align it right? Because otherwise it is not possible to align the wheel of the GS500 by just touching the axle nuts and tensors

Just finished doing this to a 94 with an 10' r6 grey shock looks about the same as the red.....took the left side rider foot rest and chain guard off slide right thru the bottom also the middle! If anybody's looking for torque specs for the 5 bolts in play here: upper/lower shock bolt 29 to 43.5 lb ft the other three 50.5 to 72.5 lb ft.... haven't test driven it yet though...sitting on it, no bounce "no suspension all bike"

Also if you still having trouble sliding the shock thru the window ie no gas tank removal...with this video also checkout Sustitución del amortiguador de GS-500 por el de Yamaha R6R..I know in different language yet he uses a flathead to turn the bottom bracket of the shock to slide it thru the middle....ps what's good about this video is bearing repacking!

@@tgiby9062 Not yet, but soon. I concentrated on other work on the bike. Tomorrow the wheels and tank will go to the painter for a fresh coat or two. I might do the shock while the rear wheel is off the bike. Thanks for reminding me. The late model R6 shock is waiting in my store room.
