Question, why do you need the negative bus bar? Can’t just wire the negative straight to the switch panel?
@eastsidewrenching
@eastsidewrenching 5 ай бұрын
You don't need the negative bus, a wire to the battery negative terminal also works. The negative bus is a choice I made for organization

Why did you add an In-Line Fuse to the bow light when there was already a 1 AMP fuse in place?

How has the machine held up? Is it still a good choice for home gym? Has your opinion changed on anything?
@eastsidewrenching
@eastsidewrenching Жыл бұрын
It is still a good choice, no issues so far. I recently took the weights off and I am planning to rotate the machine away from the wall. If your floor isn't level I would definitely say that it's worth making shims for the feet out of wood and then adding the weights after.

I wouldn't say useless, it'll still reflect off of hazards in the water

@@_Truth_777 Yes I admit you are right. It's better than no light and you can at least move forward. But it doesn't illuminate enough to cruise at any speed. But then again none of them that I've seen really do.

I'm 6'5" or 197cm tall. Do you think I'll be too tall for this machine? What is the height from floor to the bar at the top? Great video btw, thank you for sharing this.

Interesting series of videos. I picked up a few details I missed by watching both episodes. I'm in the process of installing the 4 gang version of this panel in a 15' Boston Whaler. The boat has no protection from the weather and salt spray. I have a couple of questions and a remark. Can you share the relay particulars? What is the make and model number of the relay you are using? Where did you shop for it? Does it come with the base? And finally, is the relay designed for marine use? I just have one remark, I'm pretty sure I understand your concept (thank you for sharing this, it's helpful) but it would have been good to have a simple hand drawn wiring diagram, maybe just a photo of it. Thanks again for posting the videos.

Never use a different gauge wire for your ground. Always use the same gauge for both legs.

Regarding the status LEDs always being lit: you can control this using the "dimmer control wire" (see the instructions). I'd have to check my setup to confirm, but I think I disconnected the dimmer control wire from the bus bar and connected it to a panel switch output so that that switch now controls the status LEDs. In my case, that same panel switch also powers my cabin lights (which each have individual switches in their fixtures).

New to wiring. To confirm, the rest of the switches still operate without that ground because the accessories have their own independent ground?

Nice video that demonstrates the guts and the outside of the switches. As far as at the end of your video when you talk about a big bulky switch, most votes that are running multiple accessories such as pumps, vhf, radar, different lights, etc will already have two batteries on the boat with a battery switch. Blue seas makes an awesome add a battery system and before I leave my boat I turn the switch off which shuts off power completely to the entire boat so there's no worry of ever having any LEDs draining. Sorry for being kind of long-winded but the short answer would be if you have that many accessories on switches you should have a battery shut off switch already.

If the fuses are sized appropriately, not often at all. I haven't blown any yet and I am running way smaller fuses than 15A

Thank you for posting this video. I want to use these panels in a portable solar powered battery bank. Every watt matters in this setup, so I don't want those LED drawing current at any time.

Just install a blue sea switch to power the panel.
