Art is not sport, and artists flee sports as stupid, but then competing at art is sad...Courtney Love possibly meant well in that classic cream rises to top, Charlie Parker example, sociopathic manipulation that those generations saw as nurturing adversity...but "Nevermind" was a response to mainstream radio imposing pop jazz on youth culture, with hair band bombast and sanitized hip hop, sprinkled in. In a post "Nevermind" music culture, you actually want to avoid getting over hyped, but they maybe didnt get best feed back. The way their music was getting reshaped by producers so their input was not identifiable...That's dark and sad. The follow ups were decent albums. Nevermind was just reaction to commercial staleness. It's a lot of Boston, Killing Joke and pixies rip-offs.. It's great, I love it, but it's derivative.

I remember encountering their fans before their music and I was so turned off by them. Lol. Turns out I was right 😂 Lets not forget Julian and Albert are nepo babies- which can explain why they were more popular in Europe than at their homeland.
