You don’t need to have $1k car payments nor do you need to spend $700+k for 3-4 bedrooms when it’s just you and your partner! FL can be affordable if people are conscientious about what they need versus what they want. I would love to live right on the beach or on the intracoastal in a luxury building but I am aware of the cost and I decided I rather not be stressed to make that happen while also trying divvy up my remaining pennies from my paycheck or need to get a second job. I enjoy my life now spending <$25k and have more savings due to the choices I made. I had also been unemployed 2 years during the 2009 recession but got through that due to my low overhead and expenses.

The Jacksonville area is the best place for young people, Amazing jobs, beaches are beautiful.. Plus we are surrounded by the most beautiful Ocean Islands like Amelia Island. Not crowded like other Florida areas. The Weather is perfect,, Everyone love it here, the people are happy and friendly. Still a Southern City.., I can't imagine living in Orlando, Tampa, Miami or Fort Lauderdale.

Orlando was listed in the worst places in Florida. So what is it?
@KenTyndallRealEstate
@KenTyndallRealEstate Ай бұрын
Thanks for weighing in. It’s a little complicated. While crime in the City of Orlando itself might considered high, when it comes to jobs, there’s a diverse jobs market that goes way beyond tourism. But just like anywhere else, it also depends on what neighborhood you’re in. The Greater Orlando area is made up on many suburbs, and a lot of those are fantastic places to live. I know several people who live in Downtown Orlando and they love it! Personally, I would not live in Downtown Orlando. Overall, the Greater Orlando area does have a lot to offer, from the theme parks and other attractions (if you like that sort of thing) to some beautiful nature areas (like Wekiva Springs) and so much more. Not to mention relatively close proximity to the beaches, while still living inland. I suppose it’s all about what you’re looking for. Thanks again for your comment!

This guy's full a bs. It's a good place for retirees if you got the money. I've lived here practically my whole life, I'm 50 years old now and I remember moving here with my parents and the medium home price was around $120,000 35 years ago. you're not going to get into any of these places he's showing you for under a million dollars so unless you got the money, you can forget about it. If you're young and hard-working it's manageable. Beach Florida living is extremely expensive. U can get little trailer swamp properties in Bithlo for 350,000. people are leaving the area of Orlando because of these issues

Thanks for commenting. Yes, those places you listed can be pricey! Many 55+ communities are guard gated and that does offer an extra layer of security. A bit south of the Villages, in Leesburg, you'll also find several 55 and over communities that are guard gated. Best of luck with your move!

You also have to consider home prices, if you have deep pockets you can live anywhere. Unfortunately most home buyers have limited budgets, so the deciding factor is strictly home affordability.

Disclosure; I have been a real estate inspector for as long as you've been an agent. One thing to guard against, that I've seen too many times, is spending your prep budget on cosmetic details and having nothing left to fix what the inevitable inspection brings to light. The seller might think about getting a pre-sale inspection to identify items in need or repair. There is a lot of stuff that I find that would have been cheap to fix and not clutter up my report. Drain stoppers, door stoppers, label the breakers in the panel, caulk around windows, backflow preventers for hose bibs, easy stuff. And yes, roofs and air conditioners. You are not going to sell a house without a good AC here in Houston, so get it done. Get the roof done while you can shop around for better prices instead of being at the buyer's mercy. (Pro tip - lighter color shingles reflect more heat) If you ask me to come in and look around and talk to myself and ignore you taking notes behind my shoulder, then there is no report that may need to be disclosed.

Thanks for your comment! It's good to hear from a professional. And you are absolutely right. So many of those things you mention are cheap fixes that could be taken care of before the property is listed! I have suggested a pre-sale inspection so many times over the years, but so few buyers take that step. Thanks for your great advice. I really appreciate your input!

Cape coral is one of the spots that the floods wiped out. It was cheap to live there until the floods. That just happened in twenty two. As soon as it happened guess who bought it all up. Thanks for commenting! I love St. Petersburg. It has changed a lot since you lived in the area in the mid '90s. I don't know that I would necessarily recommend one place area over another. I think the biggest challenge would be to find a condo in your price range. There are some places out there. And you'll need to figure into your budget the HOA fees and taxes and insurance.
