I use this after abusing van favorite sales. If you grab 5-7 gold from the mine it get him to sell. Buy 10 items each day. Do this till the horse race. Then abuse the race :) But i wouodnt say its good for speed running haha

Great question. I will usually pull any ants I start with so they can distract any red ants blocking the entrance to the nest. It's not required, just for some safety. It would definitely be faster to just run straight in but this category is very luck based.

You do not need someone at green heart for the flower, it happens randomly but all of the others are required! Or my game just glitched and I got it..Also, for proposal, you can propose at orange heart!

Could you marry him in the first year if you give him eggs every day up until the pineapples are ready? Or does it take 2 years no matter what?

Great question! I believe the math worked out that he would be just short in Year 1 even if you gifted him a wrapped egg or oil every non-festival day and lost 0 days to storms.

@@DemoPlaysGames I tested my theory and i was able to marry him on the last day of summer year 1! I gifted him wrapped eggs every day until the pineapples were ready & got the bonus LPs for buy 5, 10, 15, 20, & 25 items from his restaurant :) I also used the Vans Favorite money trick to make sure i got all the upgrades and furniture on time :)

Good to know! Did he turn red on the last available day? There's also a decay system if you don't see him on a particular day like a festival but it's not a guaranteed chance of decay. I'm glad it worked out for you, pineapples ended up cutting so many days in the speedrun that even with the sleeping to the following summer, it ended up being faster to do that then to add in any days in Y1.

I've got a question for you speedrunners...do you know about the flight glitch in this game? and if so is it faster to get it to skip dungeons or is it faster to do dungeons normally? there's also the possibility that it only works on the Nintendo Switch...so i'm not sure...

This was fascinating. I am encouraged and frightened at the same time. I have never once been able to catch the ocean power nut. Are you using an older CRT TV? That is the only recommendation I can find online.

Yes, this run was performed on a CRT. I'm not able to catch fish using any other type of display, the input lag is just too much.

The first race stays the same -- try the second or third race. Sometimes it can take a little while to get a really high odd horse to win.

This run was in Chinese as it's the fastest language. It doesn't have a big impact in SoSFoMT as the text can go fairly fast in every language but it is a bit faster to use Chinese over a longer run.

This has been mentioned before, but you can't sell to Huang from the start of the game, which is what this guide is aimed at. Brooches are the best until you can sell to Huang.

22:13 seems to have been just a Natsume thing. I roughly translated it and this is what he says "If i sow the seed, i wonder what kind of fruit it will bear… can I have it?" "Really? Yes! …nevermind, im not confident enough to try and grow it" Note that I used Google translate so its probably not incredibly accurate :V

I actually remember from the GC version that Nami will sometimes only take gifts if you talk to her twice with the same item. She'd say 'oh that's interesting' then walk away. She doesn't realize its a gift unless you insist she takes it. I'm guessing that's why she's not taking some of the digsite gifts.

I am really glad they didn't change Gustafa's name; for me personally I now feel indifferent towards Marlin (new name Matthew) because thats my irl brothers name and idk how I feel about that--- (yea its a fictional game but bruh )

Yeah I'm not sure why they chose to rename some things and not others but overall I'm happy with the redesigns and renames.

@@DemoPlaysGames they had to rename the characters because some of the English names specifically are owned by Natsume. So they had to choose names closer to the Japanese names in the original AWL. But if characters in the English already matched the Japanese (ex: Gustafa) then they had no legal issue using them.
