I have 3 sea turtles. Two 0321 and 39mm 0300. I heard they take a Ronda quartz movement which is like $26…. Why does Luminox cost so much money yet have a $26 movement in the watch… it’s like Walmart watches yet I still have them. How do they get people to still buy their watches despite knowing the truth about them..

I have that same exact Luminox Recon. It's been my daily beater watch for years. The watch itself is great, but the rubber strap is garbage.

im a little confused, in their website they have like 30 kits, looks like the only thing that changes for the most part is the plug size, large and small and different lengths. Do you happen to know what is the best size plug for a normal sedan large or small?
@davidjaski6003Ай бұрын
@@rodrigoelgu it really depends on the size of the puncture, ive used all different sizes, I’ve even doubled up on plugs if the plug wasn’t thick enough. As far as length goes as long as you get some into the tire and you leave some sticking out you should be good, i usually trim it down afterwards to like a quarter inch so you don’t feel it driving till it wears down. Ive had success plugging tires tens of times. As long as the puncture is not on a sidewall, and the hole isn’t too big and there’s life left to the tire they usually work

Lum-Tec watches tick a lot of boxes
@yambo594 ай бұрын
After watching videos and reading reviews for a few days, it seems obvious the movements in these watches are reliable for the most part, but the lume fails long before the said 25 year projected life, and other problems crop up along with incidences of poor reliability and poor factory service that make me conclude the luminox brand is way over priced way over rated and there are other watches costing less that give better reliability and so on for far less money. Just stamping navy seal on the back doesnt guarantee a top quality watch

I have had several Luminox. One issue with crown coming off and one that gets moisture under crystal. Sent one with crown to RI repair shop and they told me they would have to replace full works. $125. I paid $140 for it. said, forget it. The one with moisture I have had siliconed or some waterproof gunk around crown stem, but moisture still enters. I really like the Luminosity for night time, bedroom. If you look around you can find these $300/400 watches for half price or less . I do landscaping so I put them through the rigors. In general, they keep working. I continue to purchases them when I see a Smoking Deal. Thanks David!

So do you repair or replace? Ive been doing the half price thing for years and i finally have 2 that need work done. Your crown issue, and another is working but on cold days i get the condensation/moisture issue. I was kinda hoping that if i got them worked on they would return bomb proof, but im prob dreaming.

I have the old navy seals with plastic case, and I have another navy seals with steel case. I bought both of them a long time ago when they were well used and pretty beat up. I've changed batteried numerous times and they keep running fine. The tritium doesn't glow as bright as it did but it is enough that I can easily see it when my eyes are acclimated to darkness. All of mine are well over 15 years old now. I wear one or the other every night, and I wear them sometimes during the day as beater watches. I think the new prices are a little high for what you get but the selection in new watches with tritium is somewhat limited. I have another Luminox, a larger stainless steel diver watch but not in the navy seals look. It is also pretty old, has had numerous battery changes, and still runs well.

I just ordered that Fred Perrin push dagger you have in the middle there. Flat, metal only with no scale material to make the knife print too much under shirt. I carry larger conventional knives clipped to my right pocket, but the push dagger neck knife is a blade I can have at all times. Even in the shower.

Personally I have a soft spot for Luminox and wear a 3583 chronograph daily. But the brand has gotten a bad reputation. There was a class action suit for selling watches that fogged under the crystal. The speculation is that they cheaped out on gaskets and didn't bother properly testing. I've also heard that servicing these pieces is a nightmare.

Buying a $230 tool, receiving it, and then having to fix issue / make mods to make the tool work correctly is ridiculous!
