A problem with Heathrow Express is that it never ever leaves the Greater London area. I think you shouldn’t count the stations in Greater London
@erwallace15 күн бұрын
4:14 you also have to bear in mind that these open access operators are not allowed to stop at many stations so they don’t steal the market

Couple of points: Doesn't have the Metropolitan Line to Aylesbury/Verney Junction/Brill No District Line to Windsor or South Acton The light blue line (I believe Victoria to Richmond) and grey line (one of the 'outer circle' lines) shown during the 19th century were regular railway lines, and not part of the 'underground'. The Overground appears in 1998, rather than the mid-2000s

Why is the London Bridge to Littlehampton service branded as Thameslink? Now it’s southern, but still, I think trains terminating at Blackfriars should be Southeastern (if they go to the south east, which they all do) and trains terminating at London Bridge should be Southern (if they go to the south central, which they all do)
@erwallace120 күн бұрын
There is a significant issue with building to the Hayes Line. The Bakerloo Line is proposed to run services along it, so having that, along with Thameslink 2 trains, and possibly (but unlikely) national Rail services from Charing Cross, which currently use the line, would make the line so congested, and only around 8 tph would likely operate on the Thameslink 2.

Always find it odd that they shoved Southern into the GTR franchise. Yes the old Thameslink and Great Northern franchises were too small by themselves, but merging them and increasing the Thameslink reach with the new runnels from the ECML and routes to Sevenoaks would have been enough by itself surely? Brought it to the level of TPE or Merseyrail (and bigger than C2C or Chiltern).

It’ll be good to have a direct link between Manchester Airport and Liverpool: right now, you have to take a train via the Newton-le-Willows route or the Warrington route to Manchester then change for other trains or trams to take you to the planes

I've seen some 700s at Victoria and Ely but cannot find anything on them on the Thameslink website. Do you know if they are unadvertised services, depot moves or if they run under another GTR operator

Another Gtr company such as great northern uses them if they have no trains to run that route at that time and thameslink have spears available

My Suggestions are District line gets an extension to romford Aka upminster emerson park and romford taking over the overground route and district line should get an extension to clapham junction creating more links and district line ealing broadway link is gone and piccadilly takes over ealing branch so just change at south kensington for ealing kensington olympia branch is gone bakerloo line is extended to watford junction and overground route is withdrawn west midlands railway will have a stop at finchley high road and south hampstead and what i mean by that is that it goes like this Euston south hampstead finchley high road wembley central harrow and wealdstone bushey watford junction only services to watford junction not bletchly crewe or more and buses like 7 72 and 283 will terminate at old oak common

reinstate the tram line plans that Boris scrapped. Revised routing perhaps. 1. West London Corridor through to Oxford Cicus, TCR, Holbor, to Old Street 2. Elephant and Castle, up to Holborn, to Euston and then Camden 3. London Bridge, Walworth, Brixton, Streatham to East Croydon 4. Tottenham to Old Street, then down to London Bridge

i know i am writing this a little late.. i would like to see a phase 4a and 4b... let me explain 4a >>>> Once go ahead of the route to link Bedford to Cambridge is announced planning should go in to reinstate Wisbech station to Cambridge.. fully Duelled and Electrified.. yes i know a planned freight track from March does have the go ahead part of the way but just extend to Wisbech. fully duel line to Kings Lynn single track is already electrified. fully duel line to Ipswich parts are single. via Bury St Edmunds, This could be Electrified at a later date if the Varsity line does get electrified . 4b >>>> This when you think about it makes sense .. reinstate an old Line that ran from Cambridge to Haverhill then onto Sudbury to Colchester.. Mainly freight to Harwich Via Ely the North and Midlands with x-country services from said north or midlands going to places like Clacton on sea. Haverhill needs a rail link .. all you need to do is move Sudbury station 50 metres and upgrade the the line from Sudbury to Colchester. love to hear your thoughts thank you.
