Some good friendly banter and nice Callop there, must admit they slightly remind me of a bass too?
@captainfrank01Күн бұрын
Hi there Mark! Callop (aboriginal name) in South Australia, but called Golden Perch or Yellowbelly in other states, so a native perch and yes, they do look a bit like your bass. We love to have a 'larf' when we go fishing together! Looks like you've had some pretty bad weather the last few days, I bet that slowed down the fishing.
@AndrewFishmanКүн бұрын
francolinobasco - You are in UK? The Callop, or Golden Perch is no relation to the American Bass, closely related to the Australian Bass. They are part of the Macquaria family which includes the Macquarie Perch, the Estuary Perch and the Australian Bass, which is almost indistinguishable from the EP. However it does not include the Silver Perch, Bidyanus bidyanus, which is related to the Grunter family. The English Perch, Perca fluviatalis, is likewise not related to our perch other than being "perciform", a classification that includes a large percentage of teleost fish. However, the native fish reminded the settlers of things back home so they gave them familiar names. Our Cod is a freshwater fish, our bream is a saltwater estuarine species.

@captainfrank014 күн бұрын
If you get a fishing permit Sam, the conditions (what you can and cannot do) are clearly stated - maybe read that, it will answer all your questions. In regards to eating the fish, I only catch and release and believe that should be the situation for all stocked waters - if you want eating fish, go to a supermarket or a fish shop. IMO there are much better eating fish than what you can catch here anyway.

Hello Frank and Doug, would be 3 1/2 years since I fished at Bundaleer, used to stop in on my way home from Quorn (Pitchi Richi). Never had any luck there, only used soft plastics, will try worms next time. The cost of the fishing permit, for us pensioners, is peanuts and you can fish at any of the designated locations. why would you not get one, as it helps with the management.
@captainfrank015 күн бұрын
Absolutely Keith, why would you not get a permit when it goes directly to fish stocking for everyone's benefit. Like you, I hadn't been there for nearly 5 years and the fish are now excellent size and well worth the trip. I haven't tried lures there, to be honest I think you really need a kayak to do that with much chance of success as the water is very shallow in close. We had a great trip just that afternoon, but as you will see when Part 2 goes up, we had a very good morning the next day as well.

We were about the same distance the other side of the bridge - I have seen pelicans act like this before, usually after a big breeding year when competition is high for food. You're game hand feeding, they have a nasty hook on the tip of the beak that can do some damage.

And I thought I had made an art form out of NOT having them (leave them to Doug)! I'm sure you don't Andrew, you get some great fish - good editing can make all the difference I'm sure, although I do recollect you falling in not all that long ago 😁 Didn't manage that today, although I came close getting the float back!

@@captainfrank01 Lol, I have fallen in several times in the past few months. Also slid down a bank and missed a rock with my right foot, found it with my left and my right continued into the water, as my knee twisted and it is still dicky. With a big trout in my hands so I could not do much lol. I don't bother much these days with the fails. The way it is going, I make a 20 minute video and people watch 2 mins average, so I might as well not bother with the editing much and just include the fish. Even then I am not much of a presenter apparently.

@@AndrewFishman Sounds painful - I would like to think that if I did slip in I would just walk on the water but perhaps I am over estimating my abilities 😎 Yeah, don't look at YT analytics watch time, it can be a bit depressing. Average watch time about 2 minutes if you're lucky and 80% not subscribed. The diehard channel junkies would watch right through though, I'm sure.

Franco I went there today I swear I was never this I think they've extended the the pond a bit and yes there is heaps a baby fish swimming around. Got to see Mr or the white duck and her partner. There's heaps of little spawns of fish but I don't know if they're baby cup I'm gonna go catch a few and see if they are baby carp do environmental research.

I think you will find most of those small fish are Mosquito fish Sam, the carp only spawned a week ago and there would not be small carp around yet.
