“Abandon your technique, this is your best Kempo” is the first and only honest thing I’ve heard from anyone in Shaolin Self Defense Centers. I have a lot of history and experience with Shaolin Self Defense Centers and every one comes with a bunch of liars, abusers and insecure bullies. I like to see that this guy seems different!!!

@@charliehennings8146 Thank you for your kind words and honesty. Given what we teach we would like to think everyone in the arts are terrific people. However, there are good people and bad people everywhere. I trust you have found good teachers who train practically and with integrity. Training is truth.

@@Shaolinkempotc You just did!!! I continue on!!! After 30 years of teaching, I have combined Kempo and Boxing in my teachings. Trying to actually help people. My experience is my experience. Yes, it wasn’t good for many years but staying true to myself, years later, a former student of mine reached out after many years. We reconnected and he, himself is a Sensei. Thank you for keeping honest teaching alive. From experience, it means so much!!🥋

Whats interesting about eastern martial arts is when its practiced for functionality it often is very useful but the big business of EMA began to just milk money off its successors to the point it polluted (much of) the art w obnoxious techniques & expectations of your opponent being brain dead. To make the techniques useful you have to be very focused & "in-the-zone" & much of it comes from how you live your life outside of training. Making it more than just a place to learn to protect yourself but an integral structure to who you are. Its good to see an instructor who takes the motions seriously as hes seeking to take a strong initiative from his defense. The defenses are real, difficult but can work

Indeed. The idea is also to prevent the L by jamming the rotation of the shoulder with the strike and not wait for it to fire.

This is so unrealistic. If someone is drilling at you with their arms closed in and not open this would have no value...also he is standing straight up and just using his hands to manipulate with the rest of his body disconnected. Its amazing how many people are on the internet doing this kind of thing. Whats even more amazing is that people have these individuals to their schools and pay for the seminars??? stupidity at its best.

Yes, keep his elbows or his shoulders in view, especially the former. The position of the elbow is the telltale sign. While at a distance, but close enough to be hit or kicked, look center mass.

Don’t listen to this bulshido. Assume ur opponent wants to kill . They will never throw punches that slowly where with millimetre reaction time to deflect a punch with torque and speed, especially when someone is bigger than you. Practice real self-defense like grappling or boxing that teach real skills
