I'm on board with the no reason for containers crowd. Even if you keep some of them visible after construction is complete, that is not a reason for containers as that just leaving them exposed for aesthetics (which is the opposite of why most people use containers, as they use them DESPITE their looks not because of them... The use of containers is supposed to speed construction, and reduce the cost overall as well as reduce the need for wood in the overall structure while still maintaining a very strong and supportive structure. This building does not seem to benefit much if at all from the use of containers in its construction in terms speed, cost, or using less wood. Calling this a shipping container home is just not in the spirit of what a shipping container home means to me and likely to the majority of people interested in the topic of container homes.

Did you need inspections? The stair railing looks great, but it seems like the gap at the bottom corner is bigger than allowed by code. I only ask because I haven't seen the railing done like that on stairs and I like the look!

great idea to support shelves with a steel wire. Looks really nice. The window benches is a great place to hangout with wine in the evening after the garden lighting is done :) Great progress

@@SunfishBudget +100 for the flowers. Nothing can make a big open space nicer then lot of greenery of different heights all over the place. Just pick the ones which doesnt require lot of maintenance except the water. And as well not sure if your controller can do timer based automations. Proper backlighting of the living room and common areas adds up a lot of satisfaction and peace to your evening free time. I usually do 3 types of lights everywhere: just a minor backlight to highlight nice house areas, main lights that you can dim and extra light if you have lot of visitors or just need lot of light. If you are lacking the wiring, to separate the lights you can always addup zigbee or wireless relays. For the table/floor lamps you can use special sockets between the outlet and a lamp. Congratulations with a project wrap up :) So sad you had to replace the tiles but I think that was a good thing if you hated it. Otherwise it would be bothering you every day, like mine is bothering me lol

I tore down my old farmhouse last year I stood by with a powerwasher keeping the dust down as the backhoe was demolishing the house and I was hoseing down the bats as they were flying out of the house looking for a new place to stay. I always grew up with bats in the house that was disgusting to deal with. I am glad the house is down.

I can’t imagine blue tile in your kitchen & I would have HAD to change it too. I wouldn’t have been able to stand something I didn’t love after all your efforts for your dream home! It’s a bummer because it looked fabulous when it was dark. I’d carry a few of the new tiles out in the sun before you install them. Can’t wait to see the finished product! Thank you for sharing! Ian did you use ferrules on the the wiring you put into the controller for the shower window? A crimp ferrule and the terminal strip will make a longer life and a better connection. Everything else is great.
