The game exists in 4d, but it should still be called 5d chess because culturally, time is known as “the 4th dimension.” So calling it 4d chess would imply that the only extra dimension is time.

Also, 3d chess exists and it involves the 3rd spatial dimension, so the third “unused” dimension can be added in theory, the game setup just gets a lot sillier, and doesn’t look the way people think chess should look.

The actual truth is that non-avian dinosaurs were already in a decline due to Volcanic and Tectonic activity, which began a big shift in the climate. The Asteroid was just the final blow that made sure they got patched out for future updates.

I would argue its 4+1, because the board is kinda described by a 4D tensor: 2 dimensions for each board, and two dimensions of boards, and then at each turn you change this 4D configuration (which is different from the configuration itself having a dimension called "time"). But by this definition regular chess is 2+1D. And no, not every game involves progression in time. Consider the prisoners dilemma played exactly once.

I am always surprised how little the world knows about Kurt Gödel and his (supposed to be) world shattering 2nd theorem. In a nutshell: you cannot have a model that accurately predicts the universe.

19:52 Unless the term “free group” has multiple meanings (very plausible!) isnʼt this quite different from the forgetful functor you mentioned from Grp to Set, because the set part of the output group is infinitely bigger than the input set?

Science is the only self correcting system of knowledge? Really. Not exactly sure what a system of knowledge is but if we have to use that vague term I think they all are. At least any endeavor that doesn’t self correct isn’t a very good one. It certainly isn’t unique to science.

if you don't know what a system of knowledge is, how is it you feel qualified to critique their classification? You don't know what you don't know I guess.

Finally some light in this confusing "generalisation" of sets. I was trying to get a taste of what the hell Groethendiek 's deal was, but it's even higher bird's eye on even this. Whatever "getting stuck" is the path to understanding mathematics.
