The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, released in 2022, is an embelleshment and embiggening of the original Stanley Parable from 2013. Following the life of an office worker named Stanley, The Stanley Parable was the tale of his adventures into the office and is widely known for its use of meta humour and drastic changes in perspective on the game's true story. Actually the game isn’t about narrative truth, it’s about the epistemological limitations of human media consumption and how that intertwines with the complexities of capitalist hegemony in contemporary sociological frameworks. By playing the game, you are forfeiting your right to choose not to play the game, which is in itself a choice demanded by the game, therefore placing every choice demanded by the game in the same psychological box of playing or henceforth not playing the game, demonstrating how deeply infused our society is with consumerist notions of purchasing, or in this case not purchasing. How moronic do you have to be to not see that? This video is bad philosophy. Take it down if you value your integrity.

When The Narrator said, "It's Narratin' time,' and Narrated all over the place, I felt that. Especially when the creation of this video eventually led to a certain person who edits almost all of their comments to write an unfunny and overused joke, then criticizing their own comment while people are reading it, then describing how they were criticizing themselves. After that, they began describing how they described their critique of themself, and so on, until the eventual heat death of the universe. They also wrote a really long paragraph while also referring to themselves in the 3rd person.

There's an old Rationalist legend about the starving college student and the supercomputer. The starving college student fantasizes about being wealthy, so he gets access to the school supercomputer and runs a simulation of his life where he wins the lottery the day he graduates college. This has two unexpected results. First, it takes much more compute than he was expecting. He investigates, and finds that simulated-him also fantasized about being wealthy, got access to the local supercomputer, and started running simulations where he wins the lottery the day he graduates college. In retrospect this was predictable -it just means the simulation is high-fidelity. In fact, the simulated simulation is also high fidelity, and the problem keeps repeating. The chain of higher-level-him simulating lower-level-him, and making lower-level-him win the lottery on the last day of college, is at least hundreds of layers deep. He can't even trace how deep it goes. Second, he wins the lottery on the day he graduates college. Which is pretty odd, since he doesn't remember buying a ticket. What happened? Well, suppose he observes the chain of simulations and finds that it's, let's say, 209 layers deep. Each version of him thinks it's the real version, and has no clue that he's living in a simulation. From a standpoint of humility, he should ask something like "In each of the 209 layers below me, the version of me thinks it's in base-level reality, and is wrong. I am in exactly the same epistemic position as each of them. So what's the chance I'm in base-level reality?" Phrased this way, the answer is obvious. Suppose you're a starving college student with access to a supercomputer, and you want to win the lottery. What if you deliberately set up this situation? I'm really not sure how to think about this, but who knows, it might work? Okay, now suppose that you're in 10th century Persia. There's no such thing as supercomputers, and also you're a teenaged girl, and also the king is going to kill you tomorrow morning. What do you do?

@@Laufissa The framing device used in One Thousand and One Nights is that of a teenaged girl in 10th Century Persia telling a long series of interconnected stories in order to delay her execution. In the end, she lives. She tells stories where girls like her survive and by so doing places herself in a story where she survives.

@@feelshowdy An important part is, that they're good stories. They had to be good enough that the king would put off her execution to hear the end of tonight's story tomorrow, and the beginning of the next story as well. omg, I tend to scroll down to look at first few comments when there is a downtime in a video (cause I have no attention span) and so I saw that first comment and was like "ok" and then I kept watching the video and was like "oh they're right, it truely does capture the spirit of the stanley parable" (though no fascinating information yet =p) And then I saw the comment in the video... and if I had attention span I would have been confused but instead I scrolled down and only then did I recognized the comment.
