Wow.. I am still processing Caste..it was watching Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor projection Isbel Wilkerson .. "thinking".. when she was talking to the two white women about the connection of Trayvon Martin.. the Holocaust .. India got to me. Dr. Furhman in "Fast Food Genoside" talks about Dr. Martin Luther King jr.. returning from India where he talks about the Southern Aristocrats giving the poor white farmer Jim Crow to feed on after the world gave the African American Jesus.. and how the Jim Crow laws influenced Hittler to exterminate the 6 million Jews. And where the German white woman.. couldn't get that it has been and still is happening the United States to African Americans. I am 81, and it was when I was 16 or 17 when I saw Martin Luther King jr as SF CA Cow Palace.. it is like awakening to a Life time of By Standing Rape finally be acknowledged ... Ty Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor for putting the work in.. because it has/had to be the best performance of US life time.. Trayvon Martin.. George Floyd.. and today Sonya Massey/the Slaves on the Ship.. ..Ty Ava DuVernay

Streamed last night in Hulu. Oh, I’m blown away. What a moving necessary piece of art to make. For now and forever. How can we be living in a time now where this is STILL an issue. Thank you Ava DuVernay for bringing this important work to the masses.

A formidable work that has had me talking about and recommending since. My local bookseller tells me the paperback is flying off the shelves too. I think the director is right, time, word of mouth and energy are the key to this film's success.

This randomly popped up in my Hulu recommendations and I had never heard of it before. But I like Neicy, and Aunjanue stole the show in the new season of Justified so I sat down and watched it. What a powerful movie. When I put 2 and 2 together and realized I was looking at Trayvon it rocked me! I think someone started cutting onions. Aunjanue is a master at accessing her emotions and making you feel her pain through the screen

The score for Origin was emotive and rising without sappiness and also took nonconventional directions to add to the varied geography and era of the film. ❤ Kris Bowers is amazing.
