@Chen's Podiatry Chronicle That happens, hang in there. All nighters are really not good time management. I know they are sometimes necessary, but you loose valuable sleep which makes you more susceptible to making mistakes that you otherwise would not have made thereby affecting performance. I tried that in nursing school and it didn't work well. What I found best is to study in time blocks starting from the get go. You retain more and are more effective.

@Chen's Podiatry Chronicle you obviously have no clue what it takes to be a physician. You sit on the video and whine about having to learn this and that, but don't realize that you are physician/surgeon treating foot and ankle diseases and must know pathophysiology and pharmacology and how that can affect the conditions that you treat. Get out of podiatry school, it isn't for you. The MD/Do's orthopedic surgeons are bitching about how inadequate DPM educate is and they do it silently. The orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons have 4 years undergrad, 4 years medical school. 5 years surgical residency and 2 year fellowship in foot and ankle. DPM has nowhere near this and shorting the educational track would just make it a waste.

Some schools will let 2nd years shadow in the clinic. Thank You!
@chenspodiatrychronicle88272 жыл бұрын
@@sunnyboo123 So the good thing about each exam is that they're all given on an Ipad with multiple answer choices instead of fill in the blank. That makes it a lot easier. Q's on the exam will vary so its hard to give exact number. at least 30-60 but enough to finish in allotted time. There's definitely at least 4 exams for each course. They want to know if you've retained the info and be able to apply it. All classes 1-2 yr are # graded, yr 3 and above some are pass and fail. You can shadow in clinic the first day you become a student here. But majority of student tend to wait until 2nd year when they are about to transition to 3rd yr since they will be so preoccupied with class assignments.

I'm still an undergrad, so I haven't taken any pod school classes yet, but I actually agree with you that they shouldn't have us take classes about things we'll never use. I've heard that they're trying to make podiatry school curriculum more like MD/DO, which is annoying because even though those topics might interest me, I want to be a podiatrist, not a physician. I'll definitely consider what you said about choosing schools if this is the route I decide to take, I would like to have faculty/admin that will support my learning when I get there.
@chenspodiatrychronicle88272 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff! We are physicians! We are also specialists of a very specific part of the body. After taking 2 board exams a common thing I hear classmates say is "I forgot about it" to certain topics on the exam. We simply don't use general medical knowledge on our day to day encounters with our patients. So even though we are physicians and try to cover every part of the human anatomy/pathology possible in didactic school years, the classes we take should be more focused on our specialty. This goes for Dentists, Optometrists, and even MD/DO's who know what specialty that want to get into. Cut back on those schooling years! haha
