Definitely something different! I love the idea with the dual boiler and pid combined with a more futuristic look and control. I always missed this on regular machines like ecm or lelit. The problems I personally have is the miss on automatic beverages like selecting americano and getting both, water and coffee with one click. I also prefer the volumetric measuring output of breville machines rather than having a scale built in. Also not quite a fan of the plastic (not shiny) Design. But the dual boiler is big! Still undecided what to go with. But great Video!!

G’day Mitch, our Torino is about 6 years old. It noticeably lost steam pressure about 6 months ago. Took it to the Sunbeam recommended repairer in Brisbane who had a shop full of Brevilles. They had it for about a month and called to say it’s ready to go. They did say something about lack of parts and “solenoids” and that they just had to use sealant to fix something that they didn’t have parts available for. The steam once again worked great…for 3 months. I don’t really want to throw another $150 at it for a bit of sealant stuck somewhere as a temporary fix. Do you know of someone servicing Torinos in south east QLD? Do you do it? Is it worth fixing? Better to get something new that is more pro and less “prosumer” as you say? Recommendations? Cheers, Luke

Hey mate. Thanks for reaching out. With the age of the machine, I would dare say other issues are likely to start arising shortly also... It may be perfectly fine with a proper fix, but I would personally cut my losses and start looking into a "proper" machine. There are some really exciting machines popping up at the moment.

Hi mate, that was a fantastic video, very helpful thank you. I'm pretty new into coffee; I have been using a Breville smart pro grinder which I have been single dosing, and I'm wondering about upgrading to the all ground sense (GBW). It looks like while the all ground has fantastically low retention, I imagine there will be plenty of grounds stored in the burrs themselves when it stops grinding once hitting the target weight. Do you think this will be a problem? I love the idea of the improved workflow that GBW offers, but I wonder whether a burr-full of stale coffee grounds every morning outweigh (pun intended) the workflow improvements
@mitchdoescoffee
@mitchdoescoffee 6 күн бұрын
Perfect pun 😅 If you are planning on 100% single dosing. I would recommend the DF83v and a decent set of scales... you will end up with a better coffee in my opinion. However if you want a hopper... the Allground sense is by far the best grinder in that price range.

I bought a puck screen for the sole purpose of keeping the shower screen clean and it works well for this purpose. What you don't mention as a negative, this I learned from Lance Hendrick, is the cleaning of the puck screen. Lance recommends one of those sonic vibration cleaners saying this is the only method that works well at getting the grime out from the tiny little openings of the screen. I don't know if he is right or not but I suspect he is.
@mitchdoescoffee
@mitchdoescoffee 10 күн бұрын
Wiping the shower screen & back flushing occasionally seems ALOT easier than digging out a puck screen, wiping, cleaning, drying... So I really don't understand why anyone uses it for any type of convenience.

I might have misunderstood this, but how stainless steel retains more heat than plastic??? This does not make any sense at all.
@mitchdoescoffee
@mitchdoescoffee 16 күн бұрын
It makes complete sense... If you heat stainless steel & plastic to the same temperature, the steel will remain hotter for longer. 👍
@zadzwon112
@zadzwon112 16 күн бұрын
@@mitchdoescoffee I do not think you are right here. Plastics are heat insulators and they exchange heat poorly with surroundings - it takes a lot longer than steel for them to change temperature. Exactly the same size of plastic will retain heat longer than steel: put a piece of plastic and steel in the sun for half an hour and then take them into cool place - steel almost instantly cools down, plastic will take long long minutes. This is why we have steel radiators to get heat in or out quickly. And this is why we have plastic handles on pots or frying pans because they poorly conduct heat. Anyway the coffee machine case likely has minimal to no influence on heat retention in its working components and material it is made of only affects its aesthetic, durability and ease of cleaning. Also please note when you change external plastic parts to steel (electrical insulator to conductor!) you need to make sure they are earthed !!! Otherwise you put users at risk of shock!
@mitchdoescoffee
@mitchdoescoffee 16 күн бұрын
@zadzwon112 exactly... if steel takes longer to change temperature, that means it RETAINS temperature for longer. Retention & Dispersion are the very simple thermodynamics at play here. Even aluminium cools faster than stainless steel... softer material = faster heat dispersion...
@zadzwon112
@zadzwon112 15 күн бұрын
@@mitchdoescoffee You are wrong again I am afraid. I have written above that steel takes less time to change temp. than plastic. Also stainless steel conducts heat better than aluminium = the same mass of s. steel cools down or heats up faster than aluminium. The concept of heat retention is known as heat capacity in physics: the more energy is needed to change temp. by 1 degree the more heat material stores and longer retains temperature unchanged: Copper (cools down quickly) has heat capacity of 385 Joules per 1 kilogram of mass per 1 degree of Celsius, Stainless Steel (type 316) has 468 J/kgxC, Aluminium 887 J/kgxC, Polycarbonate (ie plastic) 1100 - 1900, Water (cools down slowly) 4187. But this is important for heaters/boilers/radiators/thermal insulators, not for device cases. Anyway all the best for your channel - it is not a science show after all. I am sure you are a brilliant expert on getting perfect coffee taste.Over and out
