RainX for the windshield. Makes a ton of difference for visibility. Water scatters off quickly.

Can’t compete with that! My airstrip is 600ft but no gradient and we are in Fla which means high density altitudes in the summer. BTW how do you get the awesome shots from the front quarter of the plane?

How are you getting that footage from the outside ?

Reminds me of a flight I was on once in Prince William Sound in a Beaver. Wind was throwing it around like a ragdoll. We made it safely, but boy was I green. 🤢

I have to say, that strip is VERY marginal... Those clouds were tell tale too, a clear inclusion front setting in, very clearly risky for any small aircraft to fly into that. Landing with a tail wind? You sure are a lucky man to have not wrecked yourself and that cute plane. Usually three mistakes in sa row ends in disaster.

So what engine is under your cowl ? Sounds like a Rotax

After seeing his first video where he took off on a short strip between all those trees I said man it's a matter of time before that engine sputters and you're in those trees

I’m impressed how you road across the cattle guard after only a short time riding. EUCs have a decent learning curve. You still riding? Also I see you dog doesn’t freak out too much around it. In the city, dogs are ALWAYS losing their minds with esk8s and EUCs.

Very nice ideas you have. Question on 701 with UL130 hp engine. How much did change your useful load vs 100 hp motor that is recommended. In our 172 went from 150 hp to 180hp increased useful load around 200 ish lbs.

Jon, what is your engine mount made out of and what type of welding did you do to make it? I want to put a UL520T on a Zenith 750SD. I might have to make a mount like yours to shorten the distance between the back of the engine and the fire wall. Do you know if this is correct? Thank you, Thomas

You need to widen your margins before you kill yourself or someone else, it seems you have more respect for your neighbours than you do for yourself, totally unnecessary risk

I won't be one of those pilots who wags a finger at you for pushing the envelope too far, but the humanitarian in me has to say, "Please give yourself much more margin for error! As it stands, you have to do everything perfect, every time, to get in and out of your strip. In life, nothing stays perfect for ever, so the time will come when you have a problem. Make sure that problem doesn't put you into the trees!

Awesome! I have a question though. The hand control for your TIG welder, who makes it and will it work with a Miller Synchrowave 210? I’m a paraplegic so foot controls don’t work at all and the hand control that I’m using now I feel like I’m fighting with it.
@kenfawcett40066 ай бұрын
My AHP came with a hand control. It was good for some things but wasn't variable and it was WP23 torch, too big in tight spaces went with a WP17 from Mr Tig and back to the foot pedal. But I would like to find a variable heat hand trigger torch.
@RobinP5566 ай бұрын
@@kenfawcett4006 If you do please let me know. In school the one that I used was a north/south rotator control that velcroed onto the regular torch. It was better than nothing it was hard to keep the bead uniform while using it.

Love the work you do. Would it be possible to come by and visit sometime? I'm local. Live close to Shelbyville in middle TN but have family in Cleveland. Don't want to hinder u in any way but I'm planning my Zenith build and I want to come pick your brain a little. I'm a farmer just like you. I even volunteer to help work if I could come by sometime this winter before we get super busy in the spring. You inspired me to get after it and build a plane. I hope Zenith realizes how many kits they have sold because of you. Awsome work man! "Back to Work"! As Patey says.

Thanks for showing us what the 701 will do and the skills you have acquired flying it. Coming from a pilot of over 50 years I hope you will heed a warning. Please do not fly into weather like that in the future, you clearly had other options to get on the ground safely. As for your runway. GET TO WORK AND CLEAN IT UP. We can all see you can make it MUCH SAFER. Just because you've done it a number of times doesn't mean it always going to work, you have NO room error. Every high time experienced pilot will tell you the first three rules of every flight is SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY. What your doing is not safe. Please do not become a statistic .
