2020 ArkanSTOL! Check out this race circuit in the ULPowered Zenith Super701 with bonus 360 footage!

Warning: Buckle your seatbelts and hold on tight, because this is a fast-paced competition circuit that is very close to the ground with numerous obstacles. (Supply your own motion sick bag)
It features some of my favorite footage with the Super701 racing at ArkanSTOL 2020 (there are also a few fun bonus clips at the end)!
This Super701 was never intended to be used for racing purposes. It is a relatively heavy, stock Zenith 701 that was built for user comfort and local flights. It also has a completely stock ULPower 350iS engine.
The ground adjustable prop is set to a course cruise setting and was not re-adjusted for this event.
This combination put the Super701 at roughly 50hp less than any of the competitors who placed higher in this event, even though it was only a few seconds behind them.
With takeoffs and landings from 4 different runways in 2min 50sec (4th place), the Zenith Super701 has proven to be a very capable aircraft in STOL-based competitions. It is also a great performer in real-world cross-country trips, and local flying around the farm and the Southern Appalachian mountains in East TN and North GA.
The pilot had less than 500hrs (total time) logged.
Both the pilot and the plane were meeting their limits during this spectacular run at ArkanSTOL.
There were 2 cameras mounted on the Super701:
A GoPro inside the cockpit, and an Insta360 One-X on a strut-mounted boom for the 360 footage.

Hey Jon. Once again a supreme view of flight!!! How you drag it is just ridiculous 🤪 Bet you will rule the ArkanSTOL 2021 when it comes to pilot comparison. Steve, Jason and Hal. You just show the most aggressive flying to me but have at least 80HP missing under the cowl for competing takeoff distance. So 4th is your home equals1st in its class. It is amazing seeing you fly this 701 like a winged custom suit. Unbelievably spectacular. The crazy German will stay on your boots absolutely and I hope to cross ways maybe next season when I try to manage a STOL journey to join a few events and all you guys. Stay on the safe side - what ever that means - and be aware! Show em how it goes 😂🤙🤙 Germany out.

You might look at leading link forks on motorcycles. You could add a brake to the nose wheel. Leading link will not let the nose dive when applied thus keeping the prop clear and letting you increase your braking and shorten your landing roll.

Still trying to decide whether to come or not.. And then there's the decision to compete or just capture it for the fans, or both.. It's work either way. I tend to let myself fall in the middle of the pack and capture content rather than getting my 'game face' on. HELP ME OBIWAN! You're my only hope! What should I do?

Hi John …… hat was some awesome flying 😉👍. I noticed the position of your flap handle. Is this standard option? I fly CH300 and thinking to retrofit my electric flaps with a “good old mechanical”. Would you share the plans/blueprints ? Thanks. Greetings from Canada

As I was watching this "performance", I was thinking that here's a major accident awaiting in the wings, no pun intended. This year at this same event, there have been several with two pilots(?) being life flighted to emergency services.
