Here is my list (with explanations ofc): 1. Pink cellphone (pretty self explanatory, just a mess tbh) 2. Teenager (very filler and doesn’t fit the white pony vibes) 3. Fist (no lyrics lmao) 4. Geometric headdress (just didn’t like the style of it) 5. Lucky you (the instrumental SUCKS) 6. Rapture (kinda messy and too hardcore for me) 7. What happened to you? (Just filler lmao) 8. Passenger (don’t hate me pls but it just gave nickelback which I don’t like) 9. You’ve seen the butcher (overrated asf) 10. Minus blindfold (just mid tbh)

Great video, their debut album is still a nu metal gem. Sad to see the state of the band after Cristian, Ahrue, & Diego left, they’re a shell of their former self & can’t keep consistent members, while Cris & the other guys are killing it in Lions At The Gate

Revolucion! My man. I'm all about Unreal - such a simple but hugely effective nu metal chorus. Confession somehow completely passed me by back in the day. Gonna have to give it a spin.

An artist's work should only be recieved exactly as it's given, take it or leave it. I remember hearing a track I really liked on the Matrix soundtrack. Learning it was a group 'Deftones' I bought their nrw album 'White Pony' at Tower Records in Hollywood. That night I had a new favorite band to this day and 'til I die.

Ironically Xenon is one of my favourite Deftones songs....I have been a Deftones fan since 1998 so I,m not a newbie by any extent and some of Gore is some of my favourite Deftones stuff.....we all have different opinions of our much loved band and we can't all agree which is OK.

this was my favorite band when I was in junior high school. years later i was troubled by the lyrical content of this album, BUT I believe Daryl's sincere apologies, AND I like your nuanced ideas about how this album might be "problematic" but it still has a value. Thanks for the great video - sub'd yr channel after watching.

Stop cucking, Palumbo! Your words are perfectly stated! It is true "you can lead a whore to water and you can bet she'll drink and fallow orders!" Don't apologize for your truth in lyrics. They're wonderful. o/

I love this album musically, but the lyrics are definitely toxic as hell at points. I think it's just a natural product of Daryll getting older and growing that he apologized because he probably doesn't relate to the person he was when he was 19.

I wonder if I'm missing a part of my brain but- I don't even notice lyrics most of the time, which is why I need my metal to be extra heavy. It's lead to some embarrassing moments trying to sing along with other fans LOL

I’m exactly the same. Lyrics almost never register, particularly when there is a lot going on musically, just broken fragments of sentences with a tune.

What a burden with the culture of the offended. Daryl had a bad experience with a woman and wrote about it. The fact that this person was unpresentable does not mean that he generalizes. I'm a woman, and I'm a big fan of Glassjaw. Women are not beings of light, we are people, and there are nice but also bad women. To maintain that women are beings of light, in fact, is sexist

Hearing Siberian Kiss on a friend's copy of the Roadrunner catalog demo back in '02 or whenever was huge for me. Got me into Hopesfall, Norma Jean, Poison the Well, Every Time I Die, and, my favorite for a long time, Dillinger Escape Plan. That one song being on that demo had my friends/bandmates talking about how crazy it was and set the tone for my musical preferences for the next decade thereafter... heck, the next 22yrs+

I remember Ross Robinson declaring dexth to Adidas rock when producing one of my favorite bands from the early 00's Casey Chaos's Amen. Their first 2 albums were crucial. Same as Glassjaw, never got the respect they deserved imo.

DP has nothing to apologise for. This record is the epitome of raw emotion and art. It encapsulates the feeling we’ve all felt at one time or another, except DP put those feelings into words for us. If we as a society need to censor what we feel because we’re worried that it sets a precedent, then we have failed as a society.

Obviously, you cannot judge any Deftones record after the first few times listening to it. But Gore is probably the biggest grower for me personally. I think, people would've reviewed this album differently, if they hadn't been aware of the whole situation with Steph. I saw Deftones perform live shortly after Gore's release. They played a couple of songs from the album and they all sounded really great live. This was peak live Deftones (I mean, they had quite some horrible performances in the past and also later, let's face it). It's true, Gore is not an album I would listen to very often, with Prayers/Triangles and Phantom Bride being the exception, as I listen to them fairly regularly. However, every once in a while, I dig up Gore and listen to it front to back and I came to really enjoy it as a complete experience with its highs and lows, until I find myself humming even Pittura Infamante from time to time while doing the laundry.

Really good album. I can understand why some people can be left shocked by the unfiltered lyrical content, and I myself agree that some lines results a little too much for today standards (for example "If I can't have you no one will"). But at the same time I can't help but think that its infamous reputation has been eccessively ostracized due to its lyrical content being scrutinized as misogynistic without its appropriate context, and the fact that Palumbo has repeatdly apologized for it since should tell you more about the fact that the guy meant no harm toward the female gender as a whole. It's not a perfect work lyrically but it's also the best thing he could do at that time, expressing viscerally his pain and his distrust over a toxic relationship which took its toll over his life.

Is much prefer Daryl went Dee Snider in front of congress mode instead of backing down cowering and apologizing for his art. Lyrics and poetry about being 9nthe receiving end of negative aspects of femininity is not misogyny. It is not misogyny to notice that there are negative traits in some women. It's so disgusting - to believe only men can be toxic and negative - and that women are perfect. Idiotic. Feminism is female supremacism. Its not about equality and it never was. Adore me or you hate me. CTFO. its like the lyrics came true
