This comment makes me sad as I love TCGs and have lots of love for One Piece and it's sister game Digimon. Metas do solidify a lot quicker these days especially in One Piece where the Japanese sets come out first, so we have updated decklists well before the cards are released in English. I definitely understand your viewpoint but still hope you can enjoy OPTCG in the future and if not, there are so many great card games on the market. Lorcana, Shadowverse evolve, Digimon, there's a ton of options right now. Gundam is also on the horizon

@alstermaniac It's fun playing tabletop with friends, same with mtg for me. Competitive for any tcg seems like a money hole no matter how we look at it. I just wish the cards for OP wasn't so spacific to leaders. Feels like limited innthe same way yugioh is, hyper spacific cards that can mainly only be played with spacific themes. Like tony tony chopper green/red, it only helps drum island cards, and animal cards. If the drum island cards all mostly kinda suck, why even make that an option? Just an example of my main frustration. If the cards were less spacific, more leaders could be viable, and cards in general could be more viable. Luckly not all cards are that spacific, enough to make some decks that don't focus on tpye spacific cards, but then for example, mono black decks will all mostly look similar, minus a few cards and a leader swap. Anyways, i do still like the game. I'm a sucker for tcgs, and one peice. I now have 3 solidified decks, but trying to meta them out seems pointless now, and there is only one shop neer me that even dabbles in one peice. They don't have many singles sadly, and i try not to buy online. I'd like to go buy some single packs, but they only sell boxes, the devilfruit three packs, and the two packs for 20$, but those are the price of a prefab deck. Might aswell just grab two started decks, and get the rares i need. If i get one of the newer prefabs, those come with a pack. So buying the pack of 2 or 3 seem over priced for what they are.

@alstermaniac Digimon looks fun, but is even more pricey then one peice, and the shop doesn't restalk it anymore. They had 6 decks and a few boxes minths ago, but now they only have 2 boxes left, and no decks. Doesn't seem popular enough here.

@@DemiHavok420 I totally get your viewpoint, deck creativity is at an all time low with the advent of online decklists available seconds after tournaments wrap up. You do have to keep in mind, One Piece is still a very young TCG. The skill expression is more in how you pilot the deck, attach your don, anticipate plays, use your counters, and tweak your ratios/tech for the meta. It unfortunately is not designed from the ground up to show much individuality through card selection. It is designed to be very pick up and play and is almost a hybrid of duel masters and digimon. I use TCGplayer for my singles. Unfortunately to get the most bang for your buck, your LGS needs to support the game and there needs to be a population that plays it. It's really one major disadvantage paper tcgs have over the other nerd hobbies like video games or even digital tcgs. And I see you're resistant to getting singles online but it's really a helpful tool in completing and updating decks very quickly. I've been playing magic for 20+ years and dabbled in every card game since and was also really resistant to changes in the industry like netdecks, buying singles online, etc. But you either adapt and change with the times or fall behind, TCGs move so fast and it's a genre where if you aren't using every advantage you're afforded, you can have a rough time competing

I'm just use to getting a box of mtg and being able to use many cards for my decksz and trade off the rares i likely won't use, or could help a friend's deck out. With OP you buy a box and get mostly cards spacific to a leader from that box. Example, i bought a box of two ledgends, and all the green were minks, and the red was mostly all drum island. Too spacific to even use 90% of the cards from the entire box, and that was after buying 3 of the prefab decks. If i buy 3 prefab decks, and box, i exspect the box would boost my decks at least somewhat. The only thing i could use from the entire box was the purple cards, to make my katakuri yellow prefab, into a purple/ yellow, pudding deck, that i don't even like either of them. It's all over the place, and the options to buy cards are pretty much online, or you're waisting money on mostly cards you'll never be able to use. I want to bust open a random pack, i bought out of randomness in passing, not have to pay 10$ per pack in a weird two pack. These packs aren't worth 10$ each, for what they provide. Though i also have no intentions of playing the meta, or at LGSs. If I'm playing cards, i want to be comfortable, not have to walk on egg shells around kids, and be somewhere i can smoke or drink if i want too. So to each their own, and i like the game over all, i just think the buisness model, and execution of products is predatory, and too limited. It's just not going to go much further if they keep boxes hyper spacific like they are. It ruins the deck building experience, and makes buying product seem pointless, because you end up with bulk. For example, why would i buy another two legends box, when I'll likely only get maybe 3 rares of each color, and the rest are playsets i already got from the last box? Maybe if i had a better chance at pulling doubles of the same rares<, but no one need 2 playsets of every common from each of the colors, and that's what i ended up with from one box. Maybe I'm just too use to MTG, you can get 3 boxes of a set, get a forsure rare< in every pack, and most all the cards are universal. Keep in mind, i just started getting into OP only a few months ago, not even able to play often, and I'm already discouraged from from playing. I have 4 decks, two of which I'll never even touch again, and the other 2 will cost me over 80$ each to get the cards for them to be worth playing. It's just frustrating as a new player, and makes me not want to invest the money. Also the two pack thing. A pack should be about 5$, and the two packs come with a don pack with only one cool don card in them. That means you are paying 10$ for one don that will be worth less than 2$ retail. It's just not worth it to me. I felt betrayed after buying one to see what it was.
