In my opinion....Your idea for a shift knob is a great one. You could also do the knob on your turn indicator and a horn button. If you do bed floors, door cards, headliner, etc., you're likely to have issues with moisture, warping, and cracking. It's cool to think of using that material to tell part of the project's story.

Dude this is sick! I agree with you. The K5's I build are beautiful and would be a shame to ever drudge them through the mud. I am not sure about lowering it but definitely want it to ride smooth down the road and handle better. Question, how did you make sure the geometry of the front was correct when making this swap? Also, any updates on you driving it? Would be cool to get an updated video showing the finished product and your thoughts on ride and or any changes or adjustments you needed to make?
@BestDamnShopAround7 күн бұрын
@@roadrageracing1449 thanks for tuning in! Ask for geometry of the suspension it is all self-contained within the two-wheel drive crossmember so nothing changed there, as for the steering I measured the mounting height of the pitman arm and steering box to ensure they are the same distances as they would be on a two-wheel drive. I have driven it around a little bit without any problems, but is not truly finished yet. Maybe in the next couple months it would be done and I will be sure to do a wrap up video!

Man, TBI is such a good platform. You can get them for practically free from the junkyard, wiring harness and all. They work so well, especially on rock crawlers. Not for high power applications, but so much better than snipers or a carb. They really are so dang good, this swap is baffling. I have a small block 400 with an edelbrock manifold and a factory tbi adapter to a 454 TBI. It makes easy 325 horses and runs awesome. Primitive yes, but not as Primitive as a carb! TBI is so darn good, it really is.
@BestDamnShopAround7 күн бұрын

My "93 C3500 7.4 TBI setup nearly led me to a nervous breakdown. It is TOTALLY misengineered compared to port injection and has caused me no end of frustration. The pcm just does whatever it feels and is just evil. Runs lean and doesn't retard the timing when hot for start-up. Just a POS !
@anthonypaules78937 күн бұрын
@danb.3397 I've neve actually owned a TBI vehicle, I just pull them out of junkyard trucks and retrofit them onto small block chevy engines. As many problems as I hear about them having, it makes me think it could be the vehicle wiring? I always make a new harness for them, I just cut the plug ends off and reuse them. I also trick the ecm to think it is in park, doesn't seem to effect the power at all, but it gets rid of the speed sensor. They have always worked perfectly and been absolutely bulletproof in rock buggies. Like a 100 dollar sniper for under 350 horsepower engines, but more reliable. Oh well, more for me I guess!
