This is a compilation of the full build series for the 1954 CHEVY 150 condensed to 10 minutes of the highlights. For full videos and steps, please see the playlist for the build. This car was originally a barn find and we kept the patina and built it as the first channel budget build. Thanks for watching!

As the owner of a 68 Biscayne, I totally appreciate base model trim cars like this 150. Really cool build! Love all the styling and option touches you put on it. I'll have to dig back in your archives and watch the build vids.

Thank you! The motor came with an aluminum case power glide so that's what I stuck with! Would have loved to have overdrive but it fit the retro feel of the car!

The New thing out here in the Southwest is guys taking the 40-50's car bodies and putting them on mid 70's- mid 80's full size car and wagon frames and building budget daily driver hot rods that has decent power and they can have fun with on the weekend. one of the guys in my car club put a 51 Chevy on a 77 Delta 88 frame, he paid $500 for the Fleetline body, $300 for the Delta 88, that not only still ran and drove but was currently tagged. there was VERY little modifications to the frame and after parting out the Delta 88 he paid less $500 to build the Fleetwood and that includes the paint job, but in all honesty he got a SMOKING deal on the paint because he bought a "mis-mix" gallon of paint from our local paint supply store for $35, he also bought a cheap set of bucket seats that came out of like 05 Hyundai Santa Fe for like $100 too and then make them work, build a DIRT CHEAP Hot Rod/Restomod is still VERY doable.

@@BestDamnShopAround That should be your next build, Like I said, They require VERY little modifications to the frame/body and without paint and body work I'm betting could be done by a couple guys and a couple 12 packs of adult beverages over a long weekend, One thing I did forget to mention though is he painted all the chrome, it was all scratched up and instead of buffing it out he just hit it with some self-etching primer and then hit with some aluminium wheel paint.

@@BestDamnShopAround yeah that would be a good one to do, just remember to get something close in wheelbase, the 54 Bel-Aire has 115" wheelbase, so does the 77-82 Buick Lesabre and they came with either the 307 or 350.

I really like your channel and your builds, but I can't understand the appeal for rust and patina. You went through all of that work, so why not give the body a paint job? The car is nice enough. No offense.
@BestDamnShopAround
@BestDamnShopAround 5 ай бұрын
No offense taken! The appeali in for me is the fact that you don't have to worry as much about driving a car in the rain, leaving it sitting outside unattended, or parking it in a crowded parking lot. Also the fact that the car will look unique compared to any other car if it's kind. You can have 10 shiny red Bel air's, but no 10 patina ones will look the same! I have a few shiny painted vehicles as well! I can speak for experience it's much more stressful to drive the shiny stuff! Not to mention the cost involved in a high quality professional paint job! Regardless thank you for tagging along and supporting!
