Can you ask for time at all during the test, like how much time elapsed or is left since you’re not allowed to wear a watch ?

My plan is to join the navy for 4 years as a damage controlman, go to a community college and get my emt license then become a los angeles firefighter.

Nope, if you got hired at 25, you could retire at 55 with about 80 percent of your salary. Sweet!

I failed my first test back in 2020, was slightly overweight and passed my second one two weeks later after doing some more cardio. Year after that I pass my 3rd time again with much less issue. It’s all mind over matter with this test. I’ve seen very overweight people do this test. You just have to push out all the negative thoughts and focus on pushing forward. Not stopping for rest for 10 mins. Basically trying to last for only 3 rounds of boxing😂 just believe in yourself and you’ve got it!

Hey 👋 I don’t know if you’ll ever get this message But I have some questions I would really love to become a firefighter But I’m not sure if it’s just wishful thinking I’m 41…kinda late to the game I’m a recovering alcoholic active in my recovery to stay sober…Which I’m very proud of Was in special education as a kid do to a learning disability I’m also not very tall I could be healthier Anyways I got a lot stacked against me Is it even possible for someone in my particular situation to actually make this a possibility I’d love to hear your thoughts about it I’m willing to do the work to make it happen And how do I find a mentor Appreciate any advice Thanks man Have a good day 😎✌️

Anyone reading this just be prepared. The job isn't fighting fires and doing first aid sometimes. It's basically EMS that does fires once in a blue moon lol. In most places anyway not saying that's good or bad but that's what the job is.

I have been watching your videos and I was just about to sign up for EMT school so I can already have that in my books but I ran into a seasonal opportunity for a firefighter 1 position up with Kern County. I wanted to ask if I should go ahead and get the experience or should I skip on that and get my EMT certification? I know it is good to have prior experience in firefighting and even though it is a seasonal position I wanted to know if it would be a good look to take up on it. If I could take my EMT school time at the same time I would but I don't think so because my EMT school wouldn't be near Kern County. Unless I was to do the seasonal position then go to EMT school after? I hope to hear from you soon. I am 24 years old.

Whats typically the cut off age to become a firefighter? Im 33, is that too old?
@stephencurtis71733 ай бұрын
I'm looking into it now at 32. It's something I've always sort of daydreamed about as a career, been stuck in odd jobs trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. Spent the last couple years breaking some bad habits and getting myself in shape, physically and mentally. I want to devote myself to something honourable and important. I love the idea of a career where I get to help people/communities through emergency situations. I want to have a "never-too-late" attitude about it, because I do believe I can put the work in and do the job efficiently in due time, but I also want to know how much of a setback my age is going to be in terms of getting hired on with a department.

I REALLY want to do this for the rest of my life. I’m beginning my journey now with doing my pre reqs. I’m 27, prior service. Just want to get back out there and help someone on their worst day.

Well done, however that's not a rope at all, it's a line, but "below 5/16" the term cordage shall apply". Also, a hitch is not a knot, it's a hitch & the same can be said of a bend.

How to tie a bowline around an object tho?
@Trainingforatri6 ай бұрын
Snap bowline is for tying closed bowlines; however, I would not tie a snap bowline like the method shown here. Grab a bight around what you want to tie your bowline around, make an overhand loop on your standing end, grab a bight further down on your standing end and feed it through the overhand loop you just made and feed the running end through that overhand loop and cinch it. Hard to explain in text haha, there are good videos out there on snap bowline techniques that are easier and better than this one. Great video anyways for beginning FFs that will help with academy knots.

The chief of my local fire department offered to sponsor me for free fire academy. I started training at 14 at a different fire station, but since covid i stopped all workouts and lost all my aspiration for being a FF. I didnt even know how to start back up again so i appreciate these videos. Ill update if i get into my academy

I whooped my Cpat. It was pretty easy but I will say the Cpat demonstrations you see on youtube make it look a lot easier than it is. You see the events done individually and you think "cake walk" but you cant fail to remember one major detail... Lactic acid.
