This depends on the make/model of the centre case as not all are manufactured to accept a split spindle.

Hi Roy thanks for watching, yes when bumping just touching the key really and same on these when picking hardly any tension. Ive had mixed results raking the Yales some go easy others wont but Ive hardly seen any out on jobs. This one and others was lent to me so I could test some bump keys I cut on my cheap Chinese Defu but only one out of a few actually worked.

Good work there Derek. I once spent over 180 quid to buy a specific pick for this lock. Only managed to get it 3 times with said pick I wasnt too happy when I could rake it open on under a minute after spending hours using a dedicated pick.. Thanks for the video Derek

​@@DerekMercerlocksmitht's amazing sometimes that something slightly different on a picking tool (or bump key) can make it not so effective. One of the reasons I tend to like the 1* and 3* Yales is the fact foil impressioning can't be used thanks to the sliders.

Thanks for watching. The overnight locks are intended for upvc/composite doors. Fitting a mortice sashlock to a upvc or compostie door would be difficult becuase of the sizes involved and the differences in handle sizes. Regarding security they are only intended as a temporary measure until you can get back with the correct lock. Hope this helps.

Thanks for watching, not quite sure as I didnt take the lock to bits to find out. I have seen it before when someone had used a copy blank not original but this was a original key so can only assume a problem with a pin or pin spring as you say.

@@DerekMercerlocksmith Hi Derek, just hanks for the reply. The newer one doesn’t have the bounce they have been out for a year/year and a half. I’ve actually learnt how to decode other over the last couple of days. You have to depress the button and find the binding wheel and so on. Not as easy as the bounce but still doable

If this is happening most locksmiths call it a spinner in other words the core is turning but not picking up the cam its usual to find this on thumbturn cylinders and or when the key is left on the inside. You need to pick up the cam with something like a hook pick or a blank key/bump key in order to rotate the cam and open the door.

Thanks for watching, put the barrel back in with the key in the lock. hold in place and it should unlock your handle. Or if you havent the original barrel order one for it and put in to unlock handle then fit retaining screw on the back.

You will probably have lost the cam arm which lock and opens the lock, I would ask a garage door firm or locksmith for a price to open for you.

Its not taken any money out of my pocket but has saved myself and other locksmiths time and money by having both a plan B and having another purchasing option other than the very expensive Burrs on the market. Your normal customers and in fact some locksmiths who trained specifically in non destructive entry dont have the knowledge and experience in drilling locks especially using carbide burrs and I can verify that during my 14 years working experience Ive been to many jobs where the customer has tried drilling a lock in the wrong postition.

Thanks for watching Roy. Yes the ingenious multipoint lock has the double claw. They have partnered with Apecs locks for the euro cylinders, and this is the second new estate with these locks on the doors. I must admit im not looking forward to having to open the failed Ingenious and of course it will happen.

Has the gearbox got a split spindle? Wouldn't like to think I'm getting in to that after failed gearbox.

@@moose646 No split spindle on this one and none on the other site Ive visited my understanding is the centre case can be single or double spindle.

I put the handle on from the outside then on the inside I keep hold of the spindle, whilst fitting the two retaining screws, then the ships wheel as I describe it goes on last then the retaining screw. I then test its pulling back the spring loaded deadbolts before testing the door locks ok.
