I never caught gar I watched videos where guys catch them regularly. They wait before lifting rod and reeling to set the hook. Sometimes close to a minute before setting the hook. Just mentioning what I saw. I'll never catch a gar because they don't reside in my area. I'm hoping eventually to catch an Atlantic salmon or striper.

Gar fishing is an art and will test your patience let it take it till it gets into the throat then you got a meal . 8 never go with a means to feed myself and water that is clean so no upset stomach days , also cooking equipment .and camping food what needs no cooling spam cheese crackers sardines, there are times it's really tough to catch something to eat .

Man this is a great channel!! You dudes are my kind of people. Catfishing all year long. Even in the cold. I catch tons of catfish in cold weather and honestly I think they taste a little better out of cold water.

Boy was this sum different. Great video as always. I've been wanting to do this myself but with how bad I've been doin this winter in OK, idk how well I'd hold up. Ig this is why ppl stock up BEFORE the winter lol. I've found glory holes of fish but they just refuse to bite no matter what bait or rig im using.

I stayed up 2 hours to watch this, it's nearly 2am and I'll have to finish up tomorrow. Great video, living the dream. You go out there and you do it. I love it. I live on the top end of the state to the east, what river is this if you don't mind my asking? Do you always stay on one river? Is this the Red River? Thanks. I don't make it down that far very much with a special needs child to care for, but maybe some day.

@@ChasingtheMoby Understand. Paradise is precious. That last (second to the last), giant blue catfish you caught, what do you estimate that weighed? 75 pounds? I know you usually don't weight 'em, a frame of reference would be interesting. And, can you do a video about your gear for that trip? You mentioned solar pack chargers? What's the story behind that hat? The hat might be the bravest part of the entire video! 🙂j/k. Also, the sound was super low for me, but that might just be my computer. Great video. Very inspirational. Very entertaining and just fun to watch. My favorite fishing channel on YT. Sorry for all the questions.

Hey, just a quick tip on using your Sawyer filter. It will screw directly onto most 2 litre soda bottles. Before you filter the water, collect the water into the soda bottle with a cotton bandana or other cloth over the opening, this will help pre filter some of the tribidity out of the water and extend the life of your Sawyer.

Thanks for watching and for the tip! I'll do that next time

I love these style videos. Just real life and encourages me to get out there and try new things outdoors. I’ve got a couple questions: 1. Which state are you typically fishing? 2. Can you make a video focusing on how to handle catfish? I’d love to do this but man I’ve heard some nightmare stories of getting barbed.

Austin I really enjoy your videos and this one is extra long. I have a lot of trouble sleeping unfortunately and your videos do me a lot of good because the way you have made them they are so very relaxing to me. I have driven through OK but have never really explored the Country side. You have beautiful scenery. The fact that OK has frequent Tornados does concern me for your safety but I am sure you’re very careful and know how to be safe. Take care and thank you for all you do. Sorry for long post!!😊😊😊😊
