How did this repair hold up? I'm about to do a similar repair on my Boxter, and I have to use the replacement gear that's got the plastic part in the center (as opposed to the OEM metal, inside, gear. Curious to hear if it's held up.
@regularmechanic4196Ай бұрын
@@chackett99 it’s held up good, the IEM gear is actually plastic, you can buy upgraded metal gears if you want a permanent fix
@chackett99Ай бұрын
@@regularmechanic4196 Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. at 8:06, you pull out the "assembly" which has a metal center piece and then the broken plastic, white, gear. I've read that the all metal replacements aren't great because they have a tendency to bind and that the plastic parts are designed to break in order to prevent more damage elsewhere in the system. Anyway, if your all plastic replacement has held up it doesn't really matter. I've ordered the same, all plastic replacement gears and will be installing them in the next few weeks. Thanks for the video! Appreciate it..

You just earned a new subscriber today!!! I also seen you video on the 995-997 valve cover replacement. I own both a 955 Turbo that I used your video for reference doing and in the next week or so I have to do this same job on my 958 vr6. I really hope you or someone can give me some advice on this, but in your repair did you replace the valve cover bolts? FCP Euro is selling a gasket kit with the bolts for almost $300. I think it's insane!!! I seen URO parts has bolts that look identical, but they don't list the Cayenne v6 of any year on their list of approved fittements. I am getting ready to order the final list of parts this week and I would greatly appreciate the advice thanks.
