This was great. It’s the only review I’ve seen with such a detailed look at the development from the lead engineer’s perspective, as well as going into more detail regarding the Ducati Data Analyzer. Ducati discussed the multiple (70) input mechanisms, the rear brake system, and the MotoGP basis, but this really brought it home. Great work!

Goodness gracious after watching several videos of the 25 V4s, when he flashed to the V4R/SP2, those bikes look just menacing, definitely prefer it's looks but love the way the wings are integrated on the new one.

What was your total lap time improvement from session 1 to final session? And what was your fastest time?
@cyclenews2 ай бұрын
Started off at a 1:50 (first time I'd seen the track), then consistent 46's. After lunch, with the changes made, it was consistent 1:43s with a fastest of 1:43.2. For reference, Italian Superstock 1000 does a pole of 1:36s with 10-15th around 1:42-43s.

Why doesn't the USA get the full horsepower? Is it the EPA? DOT? CAFE? Lawyers?
@allanschuster35202 ай бұрын
With all that new tech, Ducati say's it's only 1 second faster (on same track and rider ability )as last years V4S. That's a lot if you can maximize the changes but, not for 99.9% of probable owners.
@cyclenews2 ай бұрын
For sure, but that's at the pointy tip of performance. For the rest of us, the main takeaway is how much easier it is to use as a whole. Ultimate lap times mean very little, really.
@sp00ky19692 ай бұрын
If Pecco can manage one second faster then your normal trackday rider might well gain more than that. One second to those guys is far more than one second to the rest of us.

Literally every Superbike has been like that since 2005. These machines are all made for pro racers, just like a GT3 RS is for a pro driver and a Role Deepsea for a pro diver....if they made the bike for your ability it would be a scooter w a top speed of 70mph, and 50 hp, and 9 people worldwide would buy them.
@DarR12992 ай бұрын
Removing the signature SSSA is just another Ducati blunder. Why the "S"? which is mostly used on the street. Why not just the "R" or the base model where buyers usually change everything to go to the track.
@cyclenews2 ай бұрын
The R hasn't been revealed yet. Ducati tell me we will not see the new R for at least another year. The single-sided swingarm may be a Ducati signature, but it's just not as effective as a double-sided unit. You're asking one side to do the job of two, hence the reason they are built overly stiff. That's why none of the Japanese use them.
@DarR12992 ай бұрын
@@cyclenews I agree with you at the margin of performance. However, most of these bike will seldomly hit the track. We're all amateurs given the performance of modern superbikes. The convenience of a SSSA for servicing is unrivaled.

It's because all 20 of us who attended the launch had to adhere to an embargo that lifted at 7:00am PST today. We had our content ready to go at 7:00 am PST, just like everyone else. That's why you'll only see 20 reviews from the launch. If you want content not from the launch, you'll have to wait until the bikes are available to everyone else. When that is, I have no idea.
