Super helpful to hear about the suspension vs actual experience with the base model

Picked my gen4 MT-09 SP up on Saturday. What an amazing bike and a substantial upgrade over my gen 1 MT-07.

The tyres, are they really S23's or S23M version tyres ? For the rest, indeed an awesome bike.
@cyclenews4 күн бұрын
Yes, Bridgestone S23s. Great tyre.

@@cyclenews As far as I know, or at least in EU, you don't get the S23 but the OEM spec tyre S23M, which doesn't have multiple compounds. Ordered an SP a week ago and I'm going to have the OEM tyres replaced by Road 6

I wanted the SP but Geico wasn't having it. They wanted to triple my insurance. Base model it is.

Even the regular MT-09 is shockingly expensive to insure. However, the XSR900 is nearly half the cost to insure. Presumably, they're mostly bought by Gen-X'ers and stored as garage queens (this exactly describes mine).

Thanks for the note. That's surprising to know and something we don't always hear about from the consumer end.
@KingFriday2742 ай бұрын
@langhamp8912 the base model is $535 per year and the sp was over $1400. That's full coverage, $500 deductible. Doesn't make sense to me.

@@KingFriday274 I checked the insurance before buying a '22 XSR900. My XSR900 cost $278 for full coverage with $500 deductible, the MT was around $500, and the SP was like $900, but I checked some time ago. But when the XSR900 first came out the insurance was the same as the MT09.

Pro tip: Get the base model, throw some Ohlins suspension internals (or go grab something from K-Tech or whatever) and you'll have a better bike that the SP.
