I live on Tenerife...The pickpockets have always been here ,as they have been in every resort and every major city for CENTURYS....This is not a new problem anywhere .so im not sure why Tenerife is always in the spotlight for it !! There are more here in winter as they come like the swallows to warmer climate ,and its full of folk wandering around with their guard down cos they are on holiday! Even as a resident i take precautions when walking around town.....such as were suggested in the video......bags to the front ,be aware of your surroundings.....If you go out as a pair or a group ,STAY TOGETHER.....the antelope that wanders off from the herd gets eaten !!

typical gypsies they are everywhere now ,same happened to me on the bus watch out for them carrying big towels I realised and chased them off the bus but no one would help me as a mum with a child and still chased them ,watched out for them the whole of the holiday so they must have moved area they only got about £20 but that probably saved them robbing anyone else for a while

Just to let you know, we had someone very suspicious hanging around, San Marino after this. Looked very smart, on the phone talking. Wearing a two tone grey bomber jacket and haversack on his back and climbing over our veranda. Till my sister spotted him and he went over the fence and headed past the bus station. These are professional scum. Be aware and report them as we did. The more that know the better.

Sorry to hear of ur bad experience. This happened to my husband about 20 years ago in daylight in PDLA. Leave bags and wallets in safe. Take enough cash to cover what u need. They work in gangs change tops and hats etc. hubby now wears a money belt inside of trousers or shorts. It is well documented police are not interested if under a certain amount.
