Chinese diesel is the by far the best way to efficiently heat a space like this. I had a toyota dolphin with that was terribly insulated. Bought it off Amazon for like 75 bucks shipped. All of these heaters are the same with a different label. On the 1 gallon tank, I could stay more than comfortable for a week (basically 5 bucks a week to heat the camper) running it for hours at a time ( it will go 10+ hours off the gallon tank). The best way i describe it to people is the size and pressure of a heater dryer vent pushing out over 400 degrees. It will get to 70 degrees in minutes, then you just turn it to low setting and it maintains that temp. I was using a mr buddy heater and it burned through so much propane and I had to choose when to use it. Once you get the diesel heater, you'll wonder why you didnt do it sooner

It is not a cheap purchase, but I bought real sheepskin, long fibers left on undyed, naturally tanned. I needed a medical sheepskin but I thought those were ugly, so I bought a multicolor sheepskin. No batteries or fuel, very low tech. I wrap up like burrito in sleeping bags. I used this for tent camping and would get too hot. Hot water in a bottle placed on or near the inner thighs helps. Again, somewhat low tech, since water is heated then put into a metal or some other material container, be careful for leaks.

It's really nice and compact, but why do you fold it and put it inside that bag after each time you use it? I'd probably leave it open after taking the plastic bag out. It's too much work to open and fold it a few times a day. 💗🙌🏻

It doesn't take long to put up. I don't really use it a lot during the day. Every once in a while I leave it up over night.

I have one of those small propane heaters like you have and you’re right, if you set it as low as possible, you can get approximately 24 hours of use from a can of propane.

You should try sleeping in -60°F in the mountains in Canada! We’re equipped, of course. Our expedition sleeping bags keep us warm throughout the winter, and we cover our cozy bag with three goose down duvets. It helps that my husband and I travel together, as our combined body heat helps us to stay nice and cozy. We don’t wear these at night, but we do wear heavy duty Selk’ Bags in the daytime if we’re not driving. We both LOVE our Bearskin hoodies which we wear to bed at night, and we ALWAYS sleep in our clothes. It’s easy enough to change underwear while having our morning wash etc at our local Rec Center. We don’t travel much in winter, as my husband works, but we don’t work at all during the six months of spring/summIt/fall. It works for us!😃 Love and All Good Things, Jesse.🌹

Meena, it's harmful to cover your entire head and tuck the covering in, if the covering isn't thin enough to allow some air to come through. The reason is that without enough oxygen to breathe, you damage your brain permanently. I would read up on that. Also, if you haven't, I would read up on how much ventilation you need based on the amount of propane you are using. It needs to be compatible to be safe.

You can take ice melt and put some of it in a freezer bag, add a little water. Close the bag and knead the ice melt and water, and soon you will start feeling heat. You can use this as a hand warmer. You can put it inside your jacket, underneath your sweater, to keep warm. This warmer will last for hours. You can have more bags made up, and all you do is add water, close the bag, and knead. Make sure you take bottled water with you.

I stayed in my vehicle all through Colorado mountain winter. My big solar generator was capable of supporting the wattage of an electric bed matt for many nights without recharge. The electric mattress pad went under my sheet. Put wool blanket on top of me and a down duvet over the top of the blanket. Wool base layer, a wool hat on my head, wool mitts for my hands, and wool socks. A non-electric dehumidifier kept the moisture reasonable. No worries about poisonous fumes. In the morning, I'd turn on my little electric, milk barn heater and wait for it to heat the space. The electric heater also dried the humidity, so sometimes I'd turn it on for an hour during the night to dry the air. For the floor, I purchased interlocking rubber mats for play areas. The thick rubber stopped the cold breezes from the floor. A cheap rug thrown over the rubber mats kept the floor from freezing me. edit: I kept candles for emergency heat in case my solar generator or smaller backup battery ran out of juice.

I sleep with 3 pillows. One between my knees. I'm a side sleeper and don't like my knees rubbing. Especially under a lot of blankets. One under the head of course, and one, the thinnest, lightest, on top of my head leaving a small crack for air. Blocks out not only cold, but sound and light also. Instant dark, quiet and warm. Great for daytime naps too.

I do warm my van up before moving in the morning. But check this... 👉🏽 Additionally, idling your car can actually be harmful to your engine, as it can lead to carbon buildup in the engine and reduce engine life

You can run your engine all night with your heater on most cars. You might check it out, but mine only uses a couple of gallons of gas all night and it keeps me warm so you know I wanted to mention that.
