I don't think the dwarves can see through the glass, but imagine living in a complex built around a lava aquarium full of presumably confused demons. That's going to have interesting psychological effects on the fort, I imagine...

I've seen it happen in one of my forts once. It was an intelligent undead I had locked up in a copper chain. I was watching it move back and forth, as if struggling against the restraints. It managed to break the chain and dash for the exit. I didn't get a video of it, unfortunately, since I wasn't expecting it. Cool to see it clipped! I wonder if it has anything to do with chain strength? I noticed that you're using ropes since this is the no-metal fort. Maybe the rope was weak enough that the prisoner instantly broke it and ran off.

I don't think I will get Rim World purely for ethical reasons, I don't agree with their competitive behaviour in a market of what two games where there is no requirement to compete, I'll stick with the guys who build a game out of passion rather than profits.

I really want to retire and unretire my forts more often, but there are two main bugs that make me hesitant: 1) The status of your fortress changes to "capital" for some reason, so you will never become a barony, dutchy, etc, or recieve larger trading caravans. 2) Spoils brought by my adventurers -- scrolls in particular -- are often completely ignored by my dwarves. Some of them work fine, but others they refuse to interact with aside from dumping (and possibly melting) Just beware of those potential issues if you plan on jumping back and forth between modes! My suggested hotfixes are to wait until you are at least a barony to retire your fortress, and to have your adventurer put any spoils on pedestals before you retire them.

1) Known and will be fixed before beta is done. 2) known bug also working on being fixed. But you can work around this by assigning them to a pedestal and removing it. (worked for me at least)

I guess I need to activate Dwarven Justice after all... Maybe I should just set my militia commander to my captain of the guard though, cause I usually rely on combat dwarves only for dealing with small ambushes and use traps to deal with actual sieges.

I have a habit of industrializing specific parts of forts to save future time i would probably just have a stockpile on site nearby that takes those heavy beasts alone and few wheelbarrows or minecarts to transport to the butcher workshop. That is, before the dwarf thats pushing the minecart upstairs gets displaced by some adventurer ignoring walking designations walking down and the minecart full of heavy corpse turns the spiral ramps into a red colored corkscrew to hell

I'm so glad I watched this video. I had no idea that being a manager was actually a job. It explains why it took so long for my work orders to be assigned (thought it was just a bug) or why they wouldn't be assigned if my manager was busy crafting. I never put two and two together and just thought that simply assigning a manager gave me this UI option to assign work orders. Also, I never knew you could make broad work orders that apply to multiple workshops. I always thought assigning work orders were done for shops individually and was overwhelmed with having individual shops have skilled masters and giving each of their shops individual work orders to make sure their skills don't get rusty but also generate wealth quickly and fulfill mandates. I've pretty much watched this entire series to prepare for my next run since the first one was extremely overwhelming once I capped out on population. Now I've learned so many new tips to make my next run more immersive and manage it to be a lot less overwhelming. Thank you for this series.
