Jesus would not vote Republican, because they're the ones who make it a crime to feed the poor. At the same time, in the parable of the man who hired people at all hours of the day, He had the man ask rhetorically, "Am I not free to pay each of you what I will?" That rules out the government passing any laws about a minimum or maximum wage, which means He would not vote Democrat, Socialist or Communist. He would either vote Libertarian, which leaves people free to follow their individual consciences, or possibly for a party that prioritized conservation.

It is confusing, when Educators produce dumbed down ' scholars' to change history to suite a corrupt narrative. So much in references, ignored to seem ' unknown'. Much more was taught in the 1800s from known history, archeology is still just proving what has been recorded.

In Sanskrit, "Shoka" means sorrow, grief, distress, etc. "Ashoka" means the opposite, that meaning free from sorrow, grief, distress, etc. It's ironic that King Ashoka, whose previous actions caused so much sorrow, grief, distress, etc. to others, was later plagued by those very same emotions. At least he tried to make amends, but that did little good to those he earlier sent to their deaths.

I both resent the idea that Greeks are the only artists capable of making accurate to life statues, but also love logic of it, like they’re dwarves that have the ancient guild knowledge of beautifully proportional anatomy. The notion that Greeks worked on these statues, or influenced them at least is far, far more plausible to me than the Terracotta Army being made by a Greek sculptor, which is a similar theory.

The rapture as it exists in pop culture is entirely unbiblical. The tribulation (which may be 3.5 years, not 7), the return of Jesus at the end of the tribulation, and the Milennial Kingdom are Biblical concepts.

Thomas McEvilley's monumental text, 'The Shape of Ancient Thought: Comparative Studies in Greek and Indian Philosophies' is a great reference to this terrific topic on how the so-called "Western thought" was shaped significantly by Yogic (Hindu) and Buddhist philosophies. The text also has a fascinating collection of photos on syncretic art and sculpture.

I remember a story where Jesus met a possessed man who called himself Legion… when he cast the demons out of the man they went into the bodies of pigs and jumped off a cliff to their deaths.. could this be the origin or did they choose pigs for the story because they were already deemed bad?

I would agree that the style of the statues is indeed “Greco-Roman”. Not because a Greek had to have built them, but because the STYLE of the statue is indeed influenced by Greek art.

Cross-cultural syncretism has historically been the rule rather than the exception in the dissemination of Buddhist teachings. For example, the Buddhist suppression of and the syncretism of tantric Buddhism with indigenous, shamanic/animistic Tibetan, Mongolian, and Siberian religious traditions. I recall a story about the tantric Buddhist Padmasambhāva getting into a magical battle with an indigenous Tibetan Bön shaman in which Padmasambhāva’s spiritual insight was seen as the advantage granting his victory. With regards to Pagan concepts such as a primeval chaos or Ginnungagap, the Buddhist concept of śūnyatā (shoon yuh tah) seems somewhat applicable in translation, even if the Buddhist concept is more philosophically developed along mystical lines. In the modern, materialistic western world this kind of cross-cultural is seen, for example, in the phenomenon of "secular Buddhism."

That quote from Diogenes at 5:30 doesn't seem to match Buddhism well at all. The Buddha was not agnostic about all matters, but he was on some questions unrelated to the ending of suffering. The Buddha taught to judge whether or not one's intentions and actions are skillful or not. The Buddha described some things to be honorable and just. And he spoke against the annihilationists who said nothing existed.

So the Council of Laodicea in AD 363 which canonized all the books of the current New Testament except for the Apocalypse was meaningless. Numerous councils refined the various councils, but the East settled things much sooner than the West.

It's been awhile since I read about it, but I recall that it's theorized that the Greeks following Alexander introduced anthropomorphized artwork to Buddhism. The artwork we have before that date is more abstract and symbolic, like a footprint or bodhi tree. So, this argument went, the impact of Greek artwork on Buddhism was more profound than just how they carved their togas or certain facial features. Did you run across anything like this, or was this wrong?

Yes, you are right, you can debate on any topic. But the wisdom is to ask whether it is necessary? Greek is ethnicity not just nation as we see Indians call the Greeks, the Macedoninas, the Ionions, the Syrians, the Alexandrians, the Bactrians called Yonak, Yavana, Yona extra. Yona is nothing but the citizens of Ioina.
