Too metronomic (always on the beat) for me. You can put in a lot more expressiveness and character by slightly syncopating - drawing out and hurrying up syllables so they're not always robotically on the beat, just as you would do if dramatically reciting it with no backing track, but in this case weaving around the backing track beat a bit.

@@biganswershack Thanks for listening! This is a rap version of the raven, so being on beat is an important part of it. I have many flows (see other examples on my channel) but it is very challenging to rap in the style of this poem, which is trochaic octameter. Poe is packing a ton of syllables into each line so it requires musicality and rhythm to make it line up so that the rhymes hit the beat in a satisfying way. Also I would say I bring a lot of theatricality to the performance but if you ain’t feeling it to each their own. ✌️

Thanks!! Glad to be back too. I'm working on a mix of classic lit, kids books, and my own poetry, whatever's inspiring when I sit down to record. Right now I'm trying to stay consistent by uploading once a month.
