Thank you for sharing this great recipe. What can I use instead of red wine ? It’s a very difficult item to find where I’m at.

I’ve mulled over Many German recipes to capture my “Mutti”. & you nailed it. The “Pumpernickel” is Ingredient I needed, Thank you❣️😘 which authentic flat Pump is hard to find in 🇺🇸 You are 1ST & Only German of other YT videos that didn’t make some kind of Comment about Northern aka:Berliners. In very poor taste doing so! I subs tribes & ❤’d your video❣️As my Mutti explained just like in the US there’s “ Northern Germans (Yankees in 🇺🇸) & you have Southern~ Germans that are Bavarian (Rednecks in 🇺🇸) She said “the Similarities are Same in fact. Berliners speak proper German” along w/English & French to Graduate” & then you have “Bavarian Germans who live in most Beautiful parts of Germany but they open their mouths to tell you how much better they are but it’s mostly foul & lazy dialect”. I know this sounds rude for me to post but after getting so mad @ Bavarian trashing Berliners.. for 1ST time in years I could see/hear my Mutti “Ingrid” explain differences & it made me cry. Years ago I thought it was pompous of her to compare BUT. She was ALWAYS right! That nailed attitude of others. I’ll be back for you & your “OMA’s” German cooking. “Tschuss Klaus” Thanks Again!! Jodi 🦴

We have this a couple times a year, though If someone else made it I would eat it more! My mother in law taught me decades ago.This recipe is just like hers but she never put the mustard.When i first saw her making this I thought yuck because of the pickles in it but wow fantastic!!

So you do not boil the dumplings rather let them soak in hot water???
@mnp87017 күн бұрын
Interesting, instead of using flour, you use the raw potatoes to bind it together. Red cabbage is also a delicious side to this meal.

Can I use lingonberry? I don’t have red jelly. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

At 6:58, the baking powder disappeared from the table because it was forgotten in the crust. I love German cheese cake but this guy apparently is in a hurry to catch a train or plane. And someone else below said there is no temperature mentioned in the video. So I went to check and indeed. 😐

Thanks for this recipe! We were in Wurzbug, Germany 2019 (just before covid hit the world) , it was the week before Christmas and this is one of the things we had. While I have always loved cabbage of any kind, the Rothkohl there was incredibly delicious! We also visited all the Christmas markets we could find and that is where I discovered and fell in love with the white mulled wine…I think I drank my weight in that stuff the week we were there…it was a good thing I am in a wheelchair and hubby was pushing me in my manual travel wheelchair lol as he was sober. I am not big on drinking but that white mulled wine hit the right spot lol and I have a cup from each mulled wine, from each market we visited…I need a few more of these cups to host my own mulled wine get together with friends and neighbors. I cannot wait to get back to Germany! Frohe Weihnachten! ❄🎄❄

Chef, was ist denn *a red jelly?* Johannesbeeren? We live in California, my Grown daughter wishes for a quart jar of Rotkraut as a Christmas gift. She is crazy about it!
@bgueberdenteich5206Ай бұрын
I slice the cabbage with my Cuisinart(food processor) and cook it for 1 minute in the INSTAPOT. I do not open the lid right away, I wait till the pressure valve drops to the buttom, this way it still cooks a little bit longer . Otherwise I use the same ingredients as the chef does here! If you do not have any apples, I have used applesauce as last ingredients. I add it to the COOKED Rotkraut.

Do Germans not like to show the inside of the meat they've cooked or something?

I add ground meat or fried mushrooms with onions in the middle of each ball. Very tasty

Hi and thank you for this video. I want to try to find quark at a German food store near me. My mom's whole ancestry was from Germany and Prussia. Is quark heavier than cottage cheese or curd? Are curd and quark the same? The dough (crust) also sounds so good. I like the little rolling pin! Thank you again for the excellent video! ❤

Seit wann kommt in einen Sauerbraten Pumpernickel rein??? Achener Printen, Lebkuchen, Mehlschwitze, Stärke in Wasser aufgelöst...aber doch nicht Pumpernickel. 🤮

Different ways to make as he said.. I couldn’t remember how my Mutti did it until I heard/saw him w/ Pumpernickel. I strongly dislike Gingerbread in fact my Unvle Klaus would send me a tin of it every Xmas.. I’d keep the Beautiful tins & take the Gingerbread to classmates..I had to warn like my Mutti did me… That’s a sugar wafer on bottom it’s not Styrofoam like it looks! So like I said different Strokes for Different Folks.. Does Not make him wrong!!
