This is funny since many of the most commonly used English words originally came from the French language. It's already going to be a s**tshow with all the transports and accommodations, they don't need to put even more batons dans les roues. Tourism brings money to Paris and the country, therefore the MPs should be happy rather than finding ways to facilitate it...

French healthcare system is known as the best healthcare system in the world even by UNESCO and French people including me we are so lucky to have it. I’ve lived in USA for 2years some years ago which definitely made me realize it as I have so many health problems which was so expensive and in France I’m covered 100% between Assurances Maladie and my health insurance which only cost me 9€ per month. And that included a hospitalization in a private hospital. I’m so angry to see some of my fellow countrymen criticizing their best healthcare which I see as one of the best privileges we have as French citizens. They all should definitely move out to USA and experience their money grabbing murdering medical system. It’s a shameful system just like everything made in US of A where you have money or die. So my fellow countrymen stop your mellow drama nonsense

I do all of my dental stuff at the Hôpital Rothschild, which is the location of the national dental school. You are worked on by two 6th or 7th year dental students (they look like children when you are getting on in years). And once they have done something, they have to call in a professor to get it approved. I find this super reassuring because when you go to a private dentist, you have no idea if he was at the top or the bottom of his class, and he won't tell you if he makes a mistake, whereas at Rothschild they can't get away with anything. There are lots of seminars, too, so sometimes I have had up to five people in my mouth (I signed a permission document for that since they also take pictures with their phones.) I even had a Danish Erasmus student from Copenhagen in my mouth recently (he spoke perfect French).

In the USA, unless you have a great work included health insurance plan, you are screwed ! if you cannot afford a private insurance plan that will cost you hundreds of $s each month ........ then comes retirement at around 65+/- and Social Security MEDICARE kicks in and that is a bit like the French coverage with small co-pays here and there .... When I moved to the US a few years ago, I had ONE MAJOR concern, and that was to get a decent/good Health Ins. plan ASAP ! Peace of mind !

@matthiashavrez8 күн бұрын
The reason you have to go through a Medecin Generaliste before seeing a specialist is because the right is always trying to reduce the quality of healthcare in the pretext of reducing cost. An dso it was decided, not that long ago, like less than 20 years ago, that you had to first go through the Medecin Généraliste. The idea was that people were going too much to specialists, which cost more to the State in reimbursment. So in order to reduce the reimbursments (and, frankly, to trick patients who forget to go through the GP first), you have to first fo through the GP. That's idiotic, and they know it. It was basically a way to increase the difficulty to access specialists and get reimbursed for it.
@MrMrsandMissMoi8 күн бұрын
Exactly. And as a speech therapist I would add that for physiotherapists, but also speech therapists and other paramedical professions, it's also a question of hierarchy. Paramedics are auxiliaries to the doctor, so they can't really make decisions. If there's no prescription, the carer doesn't have the right to treat, it's illegal, and incidentally, isn't paid for by the social security system. Things are changing, but we're not there yet.

I’m an American l living in a small village in SW France. Before moving to France I was a nurse for 27 years. I was diagnosed with melanoma in February 2023. I have a Mason de Santé in my village with an English speaking doctor and two other doctors. I have had several appointments, 2 surgeries with 30 days of home nursing care, lab work every 6 weeks, 4 CT scans every 2 months, immunotherapy treatments every 6 weeks and taxi rides to the immunotherapy since it is over an hour away. Because of my diagnosis a paper was signed from my GP and things are covered almost 100%. I have paid 60€ out of pocket. I cannot begin to imagine what it would have cost in the states. Oh-my last lab work showed one value very high and my GP came to my house! Sorry for the long post. TLDR-retired nurse living in France and LOVES the French healthcare

Hey Paul, I think the word at 17:46 you were looking for might be "insecurity" and not "complex". At least in American English, insecure is something in yourself that you're not secure/comfortable with such as a part of your body/the way you look/are. I've more often heard of complex being used to describe someone entirely. Particularly those with large egos, as in "he has a God complex" meaning he thinks so highly of himself as if he were God himself. Also, my 54 year old single mother just paid $3,600 (USD) today for an ambulance ride she had two years ago after breaking her back after crashing her bike when her insurance told her it was going to be covered. Its ridiculous over here, I'm glad that at least some people somewhere have good medical experiences lmao.

In France, you have free choice of your doctors. Better than in the U.K., where you're assigned to a medical center or in the U.S., where you have to see a doctor that is "in" your insurance company's plan. The cost is reasonable, here, also.
