I love the pedal remedy. I put the Holly Sniper on mine and was able to rig the stock rod linkage with heim joints. I can feel the engine move on the motor mounts through my right foot. 😅

Hey Mize, would love to see the routing you have for the DESMOG. I currently have capped every one of the ports on the carb, I have no HAC HIC, Vac advance, or anything hooked up at all. The rig runs decent once warm, but im thinking theres probably a few things on the carb I should hook up eventually. Can i drive the rig long distances with everything just capped off for now? the idle solenoid is hooked up but nothing else. every single thing is capped. Dan

Great video. There are 4 bolt holes to secure cover to engine, maybe 2 fl that connect ton air box, and a couple that are a couple of open holes in the valve cover nothing attaching to them, why is this?

Thanks for sharing the build. Question for you, where did you end up setting the base timing? I have a 1F in my 40 that when purchased came with an Offenhauser 4BBL intake, edelbrock carb, header and flow master installed. It idled good and sounded ok crushing but would make your eyes water it was so rich and completely gutless. I found the timing was way off from spec, like several degrees ATDC. I set it to spec, 7 BTDC and it helped enough I could start tuning the carb. Ended up at 12 BTDC and it’s good. Good power and runs smooth. Had to disable the secondary on the carb though. Just bought a Holley 2bbl to try out. I tuned a friend’s 2F that has a Rochester 2Jet on it. Ran ok but was a little rough at idle and had a flat spot. Ended up setting it to 14 BTDC and it purrs at idle and going down the road. Flat spots eliminated. If you’re still at 7BTDC, you can squeeze out some more performance with a timing change.

Lovin it Jonas! Had a few questions for you. When I drained my fuel tank the other week, I noticed dirt in the bottom of the clean drain pan from the gas. It wasn't atone but about a quarter of the pan had dirt/grime in it.. How big of a deal is this? Will the fuel filter catch dirt accumulation like this? Truck sat for a while. Probably at lease 3-5 years at one point. Cracked Rocker support. When I was installing the rocker assembly with a fellow cruiserhead one of my rocker supports got a crack in it. It toruqed down just fine, but wondierng if you've ran into this before. Thanks, Dan
@mizeadventure94383 ай бұрын
With that’s much stuff (most likely rust) coming out the tank I would be pulling it to clean it out the best I can. You will have problems down the line with your fuel lines or carb clogging from that. You could pull the rear carpet up and open the fuel sending unit on the top of the tank to take a look inside of it to see how much stuff is really in there. There is also a open recall with Toyota for a new tank. But would need to call them for that. Possible your truck already had it done. Rocker support wise. I’ve seen stuff like that before and honestly I would be replacing anything that would of cracked. As if it breaks off inside the engine bit of metal could do some major damage to your engine and bearings.

This made me happy. You may need to swap in a master cylinder from an 80 series inorder to get the most out of the brakes. Fj Cruiser steelies will fit but you will need 1.25" spacers for the rear. I like that EFI better than the Sniper, it looks like a GM throttle body.
@mizeadventure94383 ай бұрын
I thought about a different master already. The Toyota one is working fine for right now. May upgrade as the project develops. I got a good cool set of rims for the truck for PT2. It is the GM set up. I’ve worked with both the Holley and gm injection systems. I like the gm one also. I would also think parts down the road would be easier to source. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for future episodes.
