Keep in mind that was one of her final public concerts and she had a tour schedule that year, from Indianapolis, Grand Rapids , Chicago, Connecticut, Indiana, New York to Philadelphia and this last concert was one of the best performances that year. She as my idol has my biggest respect for holding her head up high and keep pushing. May you rest in eternal peace Aretha 🫡

I normally don't trust most drummers. Wouldn't have anything to do with them outside the shop. Always growin herbs, makin homemade soups or organic spices. I tell ya. They aint right. But you can be sure I'd like to have done a session with Hal Blaine, Max Roach or Jimmy Cobb, if not CP - if she can play straight ahead bop. Wishful thinkn. But vocals, forget about it.

I keep trying to Love this lady, there's a couple songs, another one, I keep trying, it's just one cover after the last, I keep trying, to fit her into our Texas outlaw country way of life, but man, it's hard. Great voice. Yet it's like she's just never found her place. Perhaps a lot like Jimmie Dale Gilmore.

I had no idea she knew how to play drums or piano. Saw her in the fantasy drum camp band. Who is her husband?

Ari Hest is her husband and they have a project together called Bluebirds of Happiness.

I just don’t understand, I have spent over 2 hours watching various remakes, covers and the way Vanessa plays this song in accompaniment with her vocals is impossible to mimic. It is perfection. She is obviously a gifted pianist (well, she started playing since 2, so maybe a ton of practice). I’ll stick with gifted because she knows exactly where to put in the hard hitting notes into soft (crescendos and decrescendos, fortes, pianissimos, etc) and that was from the get go. Fancy producer did add some “bling” but it’s all her really. Her voice may not be the best in the world, etc, but for this it is irreplaceable (probably because this is her song and straight from the heart). I know it must really suck having to play this song continuously, but for some it really is pure unmimicked beauty. Thank you ❤

Care to elaborate? Your videos seem to be either Australian pop fluff 80-86 or morbid news of celebrity deaths. This was not morbid enough? Does not look like your era.
