Oh, and a warning. Hollyhocks have small glass like fibres on the leaves that can cause irritation. I have an itchy burning rash under my chin and over 1/2 my face. Dr says either I touched my gloved hands to my face (entirely possible since it was sweltering and I was sweating) or it transferred to me from my outdoor cat who was near it and who rubbed up under my chin that same day. Not fun.

Beautiful. A short wrought iron railing would look beautiful along that edge where your hydrangeas are. Safe as well. Really lovely property and thank you for your tutorial.

Such beautiful roses. I also think that your Molineux doesn’t look like Molineux either. Molineux blooms have open center and more orange/ salmon tinted to them. I can’t pin point what kind is it exactly. Kinda looks like Imogen and also Country Parson. You should email David Austin the picture of the blooms to have them verify. Well I could be wrong too 🤷🏻♀️😉

Your garden is a delight😍we’re all so privileged to be able to enjoy your tour! I have two Eden climbers, 25 years old..in South Australia they are known as Pierre De Ronsard. I love the little pink low growing plant but I couldn’t quite hear the name..I think it started with Cape? and that creek is pure joy☺🌸🐝🌸

I know everyone keeps saying that. I will have to keep an eye on it. Pretty sure it's a James Galway unless it had a wrong tag. My Olivia Austin looks different than my James Galway though. Anyway, I will keep saying it's a James Galway for now. haha

1:50 are you sure it's J Galway? It looks like Olivia to me... Galway has a different shape of the flower with rough-edged petals, this is a clear round bloom which looks identical to Olivia Austin.

I know everyone keeps saying it's Olivia. Pretty sure it's a James Galway. I still have the tag and it's pretty similar. Plus, it's a climber, at least I hope it is. I will just have to wait and I see I guess. I also have Olivia and they look different. So for now I will have to say that it's a James Galway. Haha.
@vorong2ru9 күн бұрын
It's not James Galway. I've got one In my garden(UK, bought in DA garden) and it has rough petal edges and completely different flower form, this is not the one. Happy to admit it could be not Olivia, but this is 100% NOT James Galway. @@polishedgarden

Hi Laurie. Just discovered your channel. Love all the David Austin roses. I have several planted also. What zone or state are you in for comparison? Do you purchase bare root or own root? I've had an issue with a few of my David Austin roses either being tagged incorrectly or they end up blooming another color than what it was originally. So I'm beginning to order own root to make certain the roses end up what they are originally.
@polishedgarden9 күн бұрын
I am in Northern Utah, gardening zone 7b. I usually get them at a local nursery. I did order some bare root roses from DA this year so I am new to those. They are doing well though. That's too bad you have had an issue with roses. That must be frustrating.

I love your garden, I have a question I have like 11 DA roses, you mention that your roses are 1 year old, I just planted mine some last fall and they are not as big, some of them but they are not blooming like yours, can you tell me what else to do to them, I have added rose tone and they all have water I garden in zone 8B in Texas, thank you kindly.
@polishedgarden9 күн бұрын
When I say one year old I mean they have been in my yard for one year. I usually buy them in a gallon pot so they are a little more mature. I always add Espoma Plant Tone and Steer Compost from Home Depot every spring. I did try something new this year though. I talk about it in my rose pruning video that I posted a few months back. Go watch it!

I have been slowly working on my DA rose collection. I have the generous gardener and princess Anne. I am planning to buy Boscabel and Queen of Season as bare root this year. Also wanting to get a yellow rose too. But a softer yellow. I also have long watched and considered Lady of Shallot. Would you do a rose care video? Your roses look so healthy and happy and abundant. What do you use to control pests?

And did you do all the landscaping yourself. I don't think I would never go in the house!!! This is my dream garden

Thank you so much! We love it! It is a natural creek with a spillway created by a wall from a pipe underneath. We built the home and hired out the landscaping three years ago. We added large rocks around the creek. I need to go back and find some before videos to show all we have done. So all the plants and some of the trees are newly planted. It's definitely our dream yard! Still trying to get it polished up!
