Hey there! That's a great question. Of course, the first thing would be to check the temperature of the water. If that is okay, it may be a sign that the patient has been in the water for too long. We do not want any signs of hypothermia. As one ages, their fat deposits do decline, and this may lead to difficulty with regulating temperature. It is very important to use time wisely, have all supplies at hand, and ensure you don't give very long showers/baths that may cause hypothermia as well as dry the skin. So, to answer your question, ensure you complete the shower safely and document that this occurred and inform the nurse. It will be important for other HCPs to know as well.
