As if! This was suggested to me as i was watching your Lambeth Cake tutorial for a cake i'm making for a friends wedding! I have just only, within the past year, got confident in making cakes for friends, family and colleagues and thoroughly have enjoyed seeing and hearing their reactions, to the point where they have all said i should look into making it a full time thing, but i didnt know where to begin... low and behold! Your video found me before I found it! Just when i eas about to start researching this and not knowing where to start! Amazing timing and recent to! I hope this can help me massively and super grateful and happy I came across it! I'm so excited to get better during this baking journey of mine! Subscribed for more! Hehe ♡

Do you have a recomandation for an acrylic scraper that does not chip easily 🥲
@sugarsugarcakes93
@sugarsugarcakes93 22 күн бұрын
That is unfortunately the nature of fine tip acrylic, I have chipped one too and since then, have to be very careful with washing them. Always handwash and keep away from other tools. And also, don't let them sit in the sink for a long time as then other crockery will knock it. I wish there was something like acrylic but stronger but unfortunately there isn't atm!

You saved my life with this video!!! LOL I also discovered if you freeze the fondant in the mold, it will come out easier. I have silicone molds; it worked well to freeze the fondant in the mold.

how many people would this feed?
@sugarsugarcakes93
@sugarsugarcakes93 Ай бұрын
Hello! As this was made from a 7 inch round cake, it would feed the same amount as a round 7 inch (and this applies for any size cake tin you use). I have a free portion guide that shows you both the coffee + dessert portions for all diameter sizes. You can access it here: learn.sugarcakeschool.com/courses/cake-portion-guide-free

@sugarsugarcakes hello, nice tutorial. Could you tell us what brand of pil based color you used for the peach and lilac? Also, where do we get that particular fondant letter cutter?
@sugarsugarcakes93
@sugarsugarcakes93 Ай бұрын
Hello I used Colour Mill oil colours. The cutters I apologise Ive had for a very long time. I purchased 'alphabet cutters' a long time ago from my local decorating store. You could try looking that keyword up. All the best!

do you recommend piping on a cold or room temperature cake? i have had rosettes fall of the side of the cake previously. 😞
@lynielore

you would want it really cold
@sugarsugarcakes93

Cold is best. But also try and push in a little with the piping bag as you pipe so the base has a larger surface area connected to the side of the cake.

Love this technique. I had always seen this being done without the chill time in between, and didn't like that the colors would mixtoo. This us exactly what i was searching if it was a good idea to do instead: adding chill time between colors.

Hi 👋 If then making this double barrelled cake into a two tier cake would you just add more dowels to the top of the double barrelled and a longer central dowel? They don't need to go through the middle cake board as well? :) any help would be fab 🙏 xxx

When you say chill the cake before making straight edges at the top? Do you mean put it in refridgerator or freezer?

Either is fine. If using a freeezer, only do so for a few minutes to avoid over-chilling

It looks great but I am curious about the white icing showing through when you were completed. Did you not add more pink frosting and cover it because that is where your decorations were going so you weren’t worried about it?
