Hi and happy new Year Yesterday I switch to the carbon steering wheel. Everything works fine, thanks agsin for the video. There is only one thing with the horn. When I press it in the centre, it does not stop and does not click back. Even if I steer hard to the left or right, it starts to honk. Any idea what the problem could be? Thank you so much for feedback. Best regards Michael
@GQ37official28 күн бұрын
could be clock spring. That's a common problem with Nissan / Infiniti involving the horn. Was it doing this before you installed the new steering wheel or is this new since the installation? If so, sounds like something my not have been reinstalled correctly. If that's the case I would retrace your steps, unhook the battery and take it back apart and see if something isn't sitting correctly behind the airbag etc.
@michaelschulze393128 күн бұрын
@GQ37official Thanks for feedback. It was not before Installation, never. I will try your recommendation. What part exactly do you mean with clock spring ? The two metal springs behind the front unit?
@GQ37official23 күн бұрын
@@michaelschulze3931 no clock spring is the part behind your steering column that controls your audio controls, cruise, horn and steering sensors and has a connection with ABS (if installed wrong it will act up) This isn't removed when you install the steering wheel but you do have to remove the steering wheel to get to it. I've had them go bad on 3 of my Infiniti vehicles and my 350z over the years so I've had to replace a few. Sometimes it's just he horn that doesn't work when they go bad, sometimes it's some of the steering wheel buttons but it controls a lot of things. Hopefully that's not what yours is, I would just make sure all your electrical connections are securely plugged in and nothing is blocking your airbag push in travel for the horn etc.
@michaelschulze393123 күн бұрын
@@GQ37official It was due to the inlay under the airbag unit. This is fixed on the inside with 2 screws and is moved by 2 steel springs when the horn is activated. The distance was too small on one side, so that the horn was triggered without being pressed. We did not tighten the screws completely, but now it works.

Thanks! 3.5 years later still loving it. I did pick up a 350z to fix up here on the channel and a fun go to work car when I'm not hauling music equipment and kids, but the QX70 is still the perfect best of both worlds compromise. Infiniti really dropped the ball by dropping this model, I don't know what I would go to from here, but don't want to think about that right now. My only advise is to get the newest, lowest mile model you can find/afford so that you get the most life out of it since they stopped making it. That's why I went with the 2017 since it was the last model year. Bought it with 36k miles and now have 84k miles. It's still one of the best looking SUV/CUVs on the road today in my opinion!

I didn't have a flashing airbag light. I've done several of these on various nissans and infinitis and haven't experienced any airbag issues. If you have a light on now and didn't have one before, retrace your steps maybe something isn't plugged in all the way. Make sure you unplug your battery before doing this and make sure everything is securely fastened back as it was before plugging your battery back in.

@@blazed_shadow1015 with enough $$ it’s possible. Haha seriously though a body shop may be able to get the 06-08 ones to fit…from what I remember the 03-05 front bumper is different both in the grill and the size of the oem reflectors and mounting area which is why they aren’t normally swappable. The best way would be to get an 06+ bumper. Otherwise you’d have to get the 06+ lights to see how much finessing would need to be done to get them to mount flush. It may just be a little dremel tool work but i can’t say without looking at it.

Hey when I tap the add a fuse to my fuse box in #38 the lights would work properly but, my car would start. When I remove the add a fuse then the car would start. Can you clarify that for me. Thanks
@GQ37official3 ай бұрын
Make sure it's a 10a and properly seated, sounds like it's not getting a good connection, enough for the lights to work, but maybe not enough to get the car to start. Otherwise, perhaps try a different fuse location. I've heard of some people having issues like that in that location so could also try an accessory fuse in the footwell of the car, driverside left of kick plate / dead pedal there's a small panel with some 10a fuses for acc / electronics. i tapped into one of those when I ran DRLs for my G35 years ago, ran the wire through the firewall so that's another option if you continue to have issues with the other fuse box location. Hope that helps

These are nice for a show car that won't be parked in the sun too much. But after about 2 years these will degrade and UV will dull the abs plastic and gray out the carbon fiber. will fade into a gray matte color. . Not worth it in my opinion.
@GQ37official3 ай бұрын
Like anything it all depends on your level of maintenance. As is the case with any carbon fiber product or painted surface (just like the paint on your existing mirrors / car) you have to keep it sealed with ceramic or another wax product or the uv will zap the clearcoat, especially in FL where I live. The clearcoat on most after market carbon fiber products isn't as good as oem so it seems to dissipate quicker than most if you don't stay on top of it. I keep mine coated with ceramic products and been holding up for years as a daily. 👍
