@@omgchaeki Thanks, I think that might be helpful. Does the cover fit snugly around the original lip of the oval? What brand is that? You guys do nice work. God bless the Dremel!

Trying to snap the Gaspacho OVAL hatch on to a Ocean Kayak Malibu Two XL (2008 model) and the narrow curve spaces are too narrow, the Hatch lower lip is too wide and I can't push it down far enough to snap into place. Wondering if there were two different models?
@chaeki4 жыл бұрын
I didn't seem to have that problem, but have you tried a hair dryer on the hatch to make it flex alittle to see if that would work?
@jennifercheney52294 жыл бұрын
I had exactly the same problem with the oval on that kayak model. Spent $90 on the Gapachi oval hatch. There's no way it's going on. So I called Ocean Kayak and they advised another plastic, not rubber, hatch cover., called the Ocean Kayak Cross Lock Hatch. It sits on top of a gasket and is held down with 4 straps. Not a great design but at least it does fit. Also $90

Sorry for the late reply, that was the original bank's board design. Rev1.. what is out lately is Rev2

What a cool video to see! I just got home from this campsite TODAY! What a amazing beach and a amazing place to stay. I've been going for a while now. My favorite place to go. If you're ever near Fort Bragg and need somewhere nice to camp, go to the Caspar Beach RV Park & Campground. You get this beach right across from your campsite.

Today's date is 03/04/19, so I'm watching this video almost 8 years after you've made it. There are White Sea Bass and Halibut to be found nearby and around where you were diving. After watching your video, some helpful hints are in order. WSB can be found on the inside of the kelp beds, in the middle of the kelp beds, and on the outside edge of the kelp beds. SLOW DOWN - WAY DOWN - DO NOT CRANK YOUR HEAD AROUND FAST looking for these fish! These fish are VERY WARY - ease your way through the kelp beds in EXTRA SLOW motion! DO NOT MAKE A SOUND (splashing heavy breathing, or bubbles)!! It's not a game of how much water you cover, rather a game of how slowly and quietly you cover it! Stay on the surface mostly! Sometimes these fish are found under thick areas of kelp! Have your speargun set up with two magnum bands, use a three foot gun, very important to use a "3 inch slip tip" and have a 40 foot vinyl tube enclosed tuna cord float line. A 25 lb. WSB can drown you if not injured too badly - if you were tangled in your float line or spear gun line! My float line snapped onto my spear gun and my spear gun went with the fish. Make a float on the end of your float line that is tear drop shaped and about the size of an orange, so you can pull through the kelp without it hanging up and when a WSB you've speared stops running, it'll hopefully float back up to the surface. I usually held on to the end of my float line and swam after the WSB, trying to fight it out and keep it out of trouble. When you ease up on these fish, could be a single or a school of 3 to 50, move into range like a piece of drifting kelp - move your gun onto your target (slowly) and shoot them right behind the gill plate, NOT in the head! Have a minimum size measurement for WSB and halibut laid out on your spear gun! Carry a knife for cutting these fish out of the kelp! NOTE: Join the Kelp Stalkers Free Dive Club if they're still active! I used to belong to this amazing group of Free Divers - we've taken a number of WSB over 40 lbs. close by the area you guys were diving. Good Luck Guys - I wish I was still down there chasing these beautiful WSB around!

Thank you for the comment. Glad to see people still watch the videos I posted from a long time ago. Really great feedback, wish I was still living close by to dive. :) Rick - the little guy was in highschool at the time, he was pretty talented, even went to Stanford University. Chris - he had to stop diving completely because he had a hard time equalizing and doctor recommended that he stop. Jeeosh - was living in the mountains, haven't seen him dive ever since. Boy does time fly, as for myself, all my videos stop 3 yrs ago since I moved. I still go back to watch my videos from time to time reminiscing

Measure and toss in bag. Don't bother checking if male or female. Sure, both are legal but that's not what I would call sustainable harvesting. Future viewers please take this into consideration and check, then return the females to reproduce.
