Charging at home seriously puts you ahead if you are sensibly able to install grid tied net metered PV on your house at a scale that covers your daily drive + a little extra. Charging vehicles brings your payback time down significantly and that's just with cost of electricity, it really saves when comparing fuel savings. EVs when comparing to an ICE counterpart on cost need to keep in mind performance. With most EVs you get an immediate upgrade in fun normal driving experience that can only be reproduced in an ICE vehicle by sacrificing fuel economy. I personally believe PHEVs with 50 mi EV range minimum would be the ideal solution. Most people going to solar will need a 200A service which needs to be factored in and that's also necessary for EVs if you need more than a couple EVs daily needs met.

Can anyone tell me how to delete the "FORD MOTOR COMPANY" program from my car memory. This automatically send my charging bill to Ford. I do not have an option when I plug in to charge my Mach -E.
@studzstudios
@studzstudios 21 күн бұрын
I believe you are referring to "Plug and Charge" which is Ford's way to automatically handle all of the charging billing for you without having to activate the charger manually with your phone or on the charger itself. This simplifies paying for charging since you don't have to have separate accounts set-up with multiple other companies (Electrify America, Tesla, EVGo, ChargePoint, etc.). With your car having your billing information, you can just plug in and let it handle it if the station supports plug and charge. The disadvantage is plug and charge doesn't support the discounted charging memberships that Electrify America and Tesla offer, so you may not want to use it if you have a membership with lower priced charging. If you don't want to use plug and charge, just activate the charger before plugging it into your car with your phone or with a credit card at the charger. (Not all chargers support payment with a card though.) You can also log into your account on Ford's website and go to: My Account --> Connected Services --> BlueOval Charge Network --> Manage --> And then edit your billing info or if you don't want it, click "Cancel Service".

Thanks for the video. I’m considering buying a mach-e and doing my due diligence before hand. I live in Orange County where everything is expensive. Gas about 4.50 a gallon-ish. I specifically live in Anaheim where my first 305KWH a month is discounted to .12 (thanks to disneyland subsidizing the city). Anything after the 305KWH in a month is then .1974
@studzstudios
@studzstudios 21 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing! $0.12 is pretty decent, but you will probably eat through 305kWh pretty quickly if you're doing a lot of charging at home + household electric use. It will obviously depend on how much you drive. I'd expect you'd get some great efficiency though with stop/go traffic and warm weather. I'd guess you'd be in the 3-4 miles/kWh range, which definitely helps.

Pointless video. If you are doing only 7000 miles per year then the gas price is irrelevant. The price is so low that you can ignore it and chose what's more suitable for for myself gas or battery car

I primarily wanted to show the cost breakdown and how much the costs can vary depending on the situation. I agree that my savings so far wouldn't be the primary deciding factor of going EV, but it's a nice benefit and will continue to add up over time.

The problem in California is the Power company workaround to the rate limitations placed by government called Distribution fees. we charged both cars weekly (Mach E and Ocean) and the bill went up to $800. Not worth charging at home when your landlord signs on with Con(vict)serv. I travel 400 miles weekly and have complimentary charging at the hotel I stay at. I DC fast charge once at home at $14 to $25, then charge twice at the hotel. Overall, I am very pleased with the EV purchase.

No, no chains included. You really only use chains if you're driving with snow depth/ice on the roads. You can't go above 20-30mph with them on. Snow tires would be the way to go if you're regularly driving in the snow.

Did you talk about the range and what its like to go cross country finding charging stations. A big one for me, what was the cost of putting a charging station in your garage and how much does it cost to replace the battery out of warranty? Thanks.
@studzstudios
@studzstudios 20 күн бұрын
Thanks for the questions! I have a few other videos where I talk more specifically about some of your questions. Charging costs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKmQhZmZa7GLm8k, Range: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bou2m6htqZ2LmJY, and Charging Home/Roadtrips: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gISaq2uCYsemhKc I do not have a level 2 charger in my garage. I use a level 1 (110V outlet) charger and level 2 charge at work. Between those two options, I usually can take care of my charging needs. I can DC fast charge in town if necessary. To get a 50 amp 220V circuit in my garage, I would have to upgrade my panel. As others have mentioned in the comments, I might have enough room to put in a smaller 20-30amp 220V circuit. I don't have a great answer on battery replacement cost. The warranty is 8 years or 100K miles, whichever comes first. I haven't heard of Mach-E's replacing their battery out of warranty yet. My hope is that in a few years when there's enough batteries out there that need serviced there's options, like replacing a few cells in the battery instead of the whole thing. And/or, there's a newer improved and cheaper option that could be installed. Time will tell.

I live in Seattle area in summer and Sonora, Mexico in winter. GasBuddy says that regular gas at Costco is $US4.33 per gallon. Residential electricity is between $0.12 : $0.13 per KwH. Guaymas gasoline is 25.29 Pesos per liter. 25.29 * 3.789 = 95.82 Pesos per gallon / 16.69 = $US5.74 per gallon. Residential electricity is cheap in Mexico. It is tiered based on usage. 1.027 Pesos per KwH at the first tier. 1.251 Pesos per Kwh at the second tier. Or about 1.251 / 16.69 = $US0.075 per KwH. The third tier is more expensive 3.134 Pesos per KwH / 16.69 = $US0.1877 per KwH. If one has an electric car the first tier will likely be used by the house - so a blend of tier 2 and tier 3 is expected.

From my experience, there is no or almost no regen braking in two-pedal mode. Thus, no stop lights, as in my opinion it just drives like when you release the accelerator pedal of an ICE car. But I used it only briefly, I really like the 1-pedal mode, which I usually use.
@studzstudios
@studzstudios 29 күн бұрын
Yeah, you do get a little more regen braking in two-pedal mode in Engage and Unbridled when lifting off the accelerator. There's basically none in Whisper mode like you mentioned. You can apply re-gen braking with the brake pedal in two-pedal mode and it'll blend with the friction brakes.

Thankfully the charge door doesn't open very often going through the car wash. I put it in neutral and turn off the wipers. Turning off auto sensing wipers is not necessary if you put them in the off position and one pedal drive is not used when in neutral. Proof is put your Mach E in neutral in the driveway and take your foot off the brake. There is no need for a car wash mode. Put it in neutral like any other car!

Ford Art Hill FRAUD I was impressed with the Ford Mustang Mach -E at the Chicago Auto Show. I am 81 and enjoy a nice car to ride in. I happen to be passing by “Art Hill Ford” 901 W. Lincoln Hwy, Merrillville, Indiana 46410. 219 738 5300. I stopped in. I met salesman Gregory Lottis. We discussed the car. Then I / we test drove it. I was very impressed. I drove in with a Toyota Prius very good shape. We talked price Gregory offered me a nice with my trade in out the door price. The he enhanced the deal by telling me Ford will give me “Three years of FREE charging at network locations. He even held up his hand with three fingers showing. Then he also said Ford has a “0” interest loan for 3 years. I excepted the offer. I signed all the documents. Then Gregory asked me for a credit card. I questioned that. He said to set up the load appellation. The needed a credit rating. I have an excellent credit rating. I handed him my Discover Card. He inputted into the system. I was excepted for the “0” interest loan. Then Gregory did something I objected to. He said he opened a “Gmail” account for me. I strongly protested. He said, “it is done”. Gregory asked me for my cell phone. I said I do not have a cell phone. He said I needed a cell phone to have access to the charging stations. The cell phone will also show me the charging stations in network. I stated well the sales is off. I do not want a cell phone. I have a landline phone at home and that is all in needed. Gregory retrieved an old cellphone of his. He said I can use it but can not make any calls on it. I excepted it. He showed me the “Ford network appl”. He explained how to use it when charging my new Ford Mustang Mach - E. After a couple of charges of my car. Gregory called and told me I needed to get my own smartphone. I soon will not be able to use his. I ordered a smartphone at $32.00 a month. I told Gregory I would not have purchased the car for that very reason. I needed to bring the phone to Gregory to set up the “Ford appl”. He did. Then he said the next time I needed to charge my car. I needed to tap the phone to the charging station. It will recognize it and charge my car. After several charges. I received my Discover card. My credit card was charged for every in network charge. I called Gregory. He said I needed to come in with my phone and he will find out why I am being charged. I demanded to talk to the manager. Manager Steven Bukvich presented himself to me. I explained about not getting the three years of FREE charging at the in network charges. Steven looked on his computer. He said my information was incorrect. I must have inputted something wrong. I told him Gregory inputted 100% of my information. Steven reinsured me that he would correct everything now. I would receive the three year FREE charges. Charges were still being downloaded to my Discover card. Then Monday MAY 6. Steven left me a message on my answering machine to come in again. Sunday night I E-Mailed Steven, I have several doctor appointments. Call me (home phone) before 8:45 AM. I got to Art Hill about 10:00 AM. I asked for Steven. I was told he is in a meeting. He will not be available until after 1:PM. I got angry I demanded to speak to Steven Bukvich. Steven told me he “E-mail” me not to come in. Steven noticed I was wearing a video camera. He demanded I shut it off. I said NO. I need documentation that he promised me “THREE Years” free charges. He again told me I screwed up. He needed to straighten things out. He ask me to give him another week. WE had about an hour of heated load discussion. He said I mad very stupid mistakes. He needed to correct them. Then Gregory entered the heated discussion. Steven asked me to give him another week. Then he asked me to send him copies of the discover card statements. I E-mail all the statements. Steven Bukvich called me he asked me to come in. He said he has an expert Armon Peloza. He will correct the errors and I will get my Three years of FREE charge. I met Armon Peloza. Armon asked me to open my Discover card statements. I did. He just made a printout of the statements. He said Steven did not receive them. Now me made sure Steven got the statements. I made about ten 70 mile round trips to Art Hill. To date. NO FREE charges. Keep in mind that most people will not drain their tank every day. Most people will use less than 50 miles per day so with the home Level 2 charger (7.4kW) you're looking at roughly 2 hours to top it off at night.
