I like to put dielectric grease inside the crimp tube before adding the wires and crimping. just extra protection. I think the built in float switch in that pump is bad. Every time I put my boat in the water I check the float switch to make sure I'm in the auto position on the pump. I also rigged up a back up pump which I can plug directly into the battery charge extensions, in case I need the back up. Also I currently use it to pump out my floor fish box because the macerator pump is bad and a new one is very expensive. Always something on a boat but you also need back ups and work arounds. I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work. Thanks

That is some very good information. Thank you so much for taking the time to share that with us. If I was at home, I would have used the dielectric grease myself, but it wasn’t available for this project.

How long do your batteries last for running the AC? How many batteries do you have on board?
@expeditionseanest3 сағат бұрын
We don’t use the batteries for the air conditioning. We only have two house batteries and they would deplete very quickly. If we want to run the air conditioning, we would use the generator but we have never had to do that. The only time it’s really hot is when we are at the marinas in the Bahamas or in Florida, and then we are hooked up to shore power .In the Bahamas, the breeze is beautiful and with the hatches open, it keeps us at a perfect temperature all day and all night

I just happened to find your channel. Love your videos and love that you are living life well. We have a small cabin cruiser (Searay 260) that is trailerable. We live in Louisiana and the furthest have taken it to is the Panhandle of Florida. We would love to take it to the Bahamas but just not brave enough. We have a couple of years and plan to buy and 40 ish ft boat and will live on it while working remotely. Is starlink reliable in all of these remote locations?
@expeditionseanest3 күн бұрын
@@Laceyssailingvideos hello Lacey, so glad you found us, and happy to hear you are enjoying the videos. If you decide to do the crossing we are certain you will love the Bahamas. Starlink has worked really well for us. It does drain the battery so be aware of that part . All the best !

A few tips on the electrical. The 4/0 cable is far overkill for the purpose. Question on house battery bank fuse. Is this fuse going to your 12 bolt panel? If so, 100 A is plenty. If the fuse is for battery protection then I would fuse at 300 A which is standard if you have a larger engine in the event of having to use the house batteries for cranking. I would have used tinned copper wiring as you are taking boat to salt water.
@ScottMorter-r1s13 күн бұрын
Great video! quick note the jumper wires between the house batteries don't need to be the same 4/0 because they only carry 1/2 of the current each. Evem amounts from each parallel battery. Love your channel.

Another great video. Yes, we watch them (!) and appreciate the great content you're providing. I especially appreciate that you're simply sharing the adventure and not asking for likes, subscribers and patreon support. Organically growing your fan base is a far better experience for that base. The likes and subscriptions follow with great content like yours. Are you considering the Great Loop since you're already knocking off segments of it?

4/0?! Wow, I guess better over kill than under kill, but that can handle over 300 amps, probably over 400 at that short length. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a battery jumper cable over 2 awg. I wouldn’t have worried about matching the jumper to the main wire, if something is drawing enough to overheat a 1’ 2 awg, that device is probably already on fire, lol. Looks good though, nice clean work. If only marine mechanics cared that much.

We are currently looking for a bedding solution similar to what you designed. I just have a couple questions if you dont mind. How thick was the topper you used and was it latex? Again, you guys are great!!!

Hi , here in N Z , towing with electric brakes no safety chain is used. If the trailer should detach from the truck, the safety chain would prevent the trailer brakes being applied . Is it something to think about ?

Great video! Do you store your Honda generator with fuel in it or do you run it dry before storing in your cockpit floor locker? Also, do you have the generator with a 30 amp plug to connect to your shore power cable, or use a 110 to 30 amp pigtail?
