The aerosol should be kept vertical in use and the shoe rotated otherwise the spray will not work efficiently.

If the previous owner had sent them back to Allen Edmonds for "recrafting" they would have told him they couldn't do it! You've outdone the original manufacturer and given those shoes a new lease on life looking better, frankly, than they probably did when they were brand new.

I have always wondered how a pair of shoes end up in this condition. Was this negligence ? or was this a period of hard times where the monies were need for something much more critical. I hope the never end up on the latter. You did a great job

Hoe does a nice pair of shoes get so wrecked? Do you know how much walking it takes to wear a hole into a shoe?

They took 6 months to deliver and only after I complained, one week later they send me shoes that were too tight and painful to wear, no accountability at all.

I don’t own shoes like these but this transformation was amazing, very inspiring and great to watch even though I’m female and non-military! Almost thinking of buying an old pair!

Preston! Love your channel. I am working on a pair of Ecco Wingtips. After acetone on cotton pads until clean, the brogueing and toe holes are still dark with radiating staining. Should I get in to the nooks and crannies with acetone on a toothbrush?

Please post the steps you took and your ingredients that you used to strip black dye from shoes. I have a pair of Corcoran black jump boots that I want to change to patina WW2 jump boots.

Due to lifelong Orthopedic problems and the need to put orthotics in my shoes, I went to Carmina's store locally at 45th St. in New York, hoping I could get fit with a quality pair of dress shoes that I could fit my orthotics into and wear comfortably. Instead, I was met by a pushy salesman who was just hellbent on selling whatever they had in stock. When I got home and double checked the Detroits he had sold me, I saw that my orthotics were in fact cutting into the sides of the shoes, and would in no time be damaging the linings. Although I could probably order a perfect pair of custom Carminas for myself, I can't trust this company anymore. I'm just taking these shoes back.

This one was superb...less is better.

Damn shame you ruined that bag, sometimes less is more. A little lanolin and that would have been a keeper, now you should mercifully trash it.

Use olive oil just put very little on a rag and it’ll shine your shoes gos for anything leather or shoes olive oil good If you want to waterproof your shoes use meguiars car wax

Try again with the Dremel using the more solid lint attachment. From the video it looked like you used some sort of rotary brush (can't be sure). The lint attachment could work. Probably you need to dip it into the water though. The spinning motion would push out most of the water almost instantly, hopefully leaving enough humidity in the lint. BTW, I'm not an expert of shoe shining, just someone with decent DIY experience to get a sense of how to replicate the basics of one process using some other tools. I'll try it myself. If I manage to get a decent shine, I'll let you know.
