I’ve had a pair of AE Black McAllister since 1988. I’ve had it resoled and always rotated the shoe when I wore a suit and tie. Over the last 20 years the companies I have worked for have been business casual and I have only worn it a couple of times a year. Yet when I shine it up, it still looks outstanding.

No doubt the McAllister is one of the classics. You bought those shoes a year before I was born!

The end result was absolutely beautiful. With that being said, I found that after you bleached them and called them " ugly, " I thought you were mistaken as they looked like what I would call " Ghost Shoe Patina." Honestly, I thought they looked amazing but wouldn't be an everyday dress shoe 😂. Love your vids and don't know why they haven't been hitting my feed like they used to as this is a month old already. 91977 !

Congratulations on your third, hope everyone is doing well. What an ambitious project! Turned out really well. I like the adventure with the sole. Newer Allen Edmonds black shoes are hand burnished but judging from the sole that shoe was an older sprayed finish. The leather underneath the finish should be the same though so as long as you're stripping them anyway it doesn't make a difference. Great video.

Awesome results! Two things: 1. Decapant comes in a "tall boy" 500 mL can (the small can is 100 mL). 2. I propose your next challenge: Stripping a pair of bookbinder leather shoes. It's possible to get down to the bare leather with enough elbow grease and acetone. I would love to see you try it. I'm sure you have a junky pair lying around there somewhere. 😃
